I arrived Chiang Mai to that beautiful small place with two children. The room was clean and elegant and was located around a nice court yard. The owner was always very helpful in all our inquiries and needs. He helped me around booking trips day tours and flight tickets. The hotel is located in the old city which makes it very easy to get around for sight seeing and restaurants.

The hotel can be a little hard to find, there is another hotel with the exact same name. Just make sure your cabby goes to the street called "rachamanka." When we arrived, they only had a room with 2 twin beds instead of a queen. Offered to move us the next day, but my wife and I were fine with our room. Cute wall paper, would stay here again.

Nitty gritty pros/cons.

Pros:
- room was very clean
- comfortable beds and bedding
- owner has some cute kids
- friendly and helpful staff
- GREAT water pressure in the shower
- right in the heart of all the temples, only a 10 minute walk will take you to 3

Cons:
- LOTS of mosquitoes in the room when we first got here. Spent the first 15 minutes killing them all. After that, NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL.
- about 20 minute walk to the big night market. Very easy to get to, just straight down the street, but we always felt perfectly safe even when walking late at night.
- last day here, asked for breakfast around 10:30am. They said it was too late, no problem. After coming back from a restaurant we walked into the hotel to see 5 guys eating breakfast made by the hotel.

Regardless, we would stay in this hotel again!

Room Tip: REALLY watch out for potential food poisoning. Read lots of traveler reviews that talked about this...

I stayed here for 2 nights alone and then 1 night with my wife, who joined later.

It is literally in the shadow of Wat Chedi Luang, one of the most important wats in Chiang Mai; that's how good the location is.

The hotel manager, a chilled-out, soft-speaking Chinese-Thai, turned out to be an ex-New Yorker and that explained his natural, unassuming English.

Highly recommendable if you are conscious about budget but yet still want to have a comfortable and pleasant stay in the center of old Chiang Mai.

A word of caution: there is also 'Rachamanka Hotel' in the old city and even the taxi/tuk-tuk drivers get notoriously confused. You had better write down 'de Rachamanka' on paper along with the address.

Room Tip: I switched from the ground floor to the second floor for a room with a larger window.

This hotel, or should I say, slightly upmarket guesthouse, has got a convenient location in the old city. Staff is very friendly and the owner speaks perfect English. His wife (and son) are friendly but their English is limited and they seem to not be too familiar with the city and places to visit. Rooms are ok but tiny. Nice furniture with tv. Great matrass! The shower is a jetstream and too strong for a comfortable shower. The sink has no place to store items unless you want them soaked as it borders the shower. We had a room with balcony which is nice, but the balcony is so small it wouldn't fit a chair (hence there is no furniture) which makes the balcony redundant. However, it does make the room more expensive. The lower standard and priced room only has a tiny prison window.

We believe we did pay about 20% too much for what we got. Would choose another hotel next time as value for money was so so.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street as the ones facing the street are noisy and have a lot of light...

It's very comfortable to stay here. The owner and staffs are friendly and helpful. Just a few steps, you will enjoy shopping at Sunday night market and also in walking distance for Saturday night market. What i like most is that there is a good salon opposite the hotel.
