“Great to browse!”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

Just got back from the Saturday night market, was great! Heaps of food stalls and crafts as well as the usual mass produced tourist stuff. You can see the crafts that are massed produced and the stuff made by locals so just be aware of what you are buying. Some of the stuff is priced so only able to barter a little on that but the usual bartering rules apply to everything else. It's a really long street so give yourself a couple of hours at least, but from what I have heard the Sunday market is way bigger so may be better for those who want a more laid back experience. Grabbed a couple of bargains but was great for a bite to eat and bit of a browse even if you don't choose to buy anything, looking forward to the Sunday market tomorrow!

“Great entertainment”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

This market street is a wonderful place to graze the evening away on tasty Thai snack food, including the best mixed fruit shakes.
Bought a few small crafty things for home, and saw lots more interesting bits.
This is a great way to fill in the evening, and eat as you go.

“A Must See Market”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

From 4pm every Saturday set up for the Night Markets is well under way. Stalls sell items not found at other markets and it's vast, goes for miles. We covered 1 side of 1 street in a few hours then stopped to refuel at a cafe :) Great buskers too and delicious street food vendors. Definately haggle but be reasonable - if you're the first customer of the night you're more likely to get a better price because you and your baht are good luck! We had to deal with a few bottle necks, mainly around the food stalls, where it was so crowded you couldn't really stop to look at a stall so we just went with the flow :) At dusk everyone stops while they play the national anthem and bless the King, it's a great photo op and a really nice experience

“Fantastic experience, bargains abound”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We were leaving Chiang Mai on the Sunday moring and so went to the Saturday walking street instead and we were glad we did.
This market has different things available to buy than the night bazaar, and at quite reasonable prices. Bartering is a must here and there are plentyof bargains to be had. Aim for about half the price that is offered to you.
There are local bands playing and plenty of food available. So fresh and vibrant is the food and the colours it is an assault on your senses. As the sun goes down and the lights come on the atmosphere improves. We spent a good few hours wandering around here (much to my husband horror). He went off exploring the local laneways and happened upon the silver temple which you really should visit whilst you are here. Plenty of souvenirs, handcrafts, home wares, etc are to be found. Just take a big breath and immerse yourself in the experience......

“best market i've been to!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Every Sat night from 4pm til midnight, the road gets shut down to traffic and gets crammed with people! there is plenty of fresh and delicious food on offer, as well as some cool mementos of just about every sort. There is heaps of entertainment, but also heaps of people browsing! prices are reasonable.
