I find it interesting that some of the previous reviewers objected to bikes being parked inside the restaurant. I travel about on a expensive bicycle and I have problems at certain other restaurants and bars in Chiang Mai where they get irrationally picky over where I park and insist that I leave the bike out in the road in a location where I can’t lock the bike or in a location where I can’t see it from inside the restaurant. But at Rider’s it’s no problem to carry the bike into the place and set it safely against the back wall of the restaurant. Overall the this is a friendly place with better than average American/British food, and the peace of mind of not needing to worry about my bike getting stolen probably makes me hang out there longer than I would otherwise.

As has been stated again and again, this is a very motorcycle-centric venue. If you are offended as some clearly are with the site of motorcycles, and even more so by having to eat an informal meal within 20' of said 2 wheeler, then prolly best you stay away.

Phil and Som have built this place up to be what it is based on their love for bikes. It is not for romantic dinners, woooing a bizness partner, or taking your folks to on their first night in CNX. Possibly their 2nd night, tho....

What you will find is two of the most genuinely likable and nicest people in CNX. Phil knows just about all the details one could ever desire when it comes to riding in the surrounding areas, and his lovely other half can give YOUR other half all the inside tips of where to make herslef beautiful and get the best deals on nice copies of all the latest fashions.

The food is standard Western fare, done well, served hot, and with all the right flavors.

One caveat.....if you are in CNX to impress your love, it's not the most romantic of hotels or guesthouses. Like has been said, it's a biker bar, so if your old lady aint an Old Lady, then come for the company, food, and atmosphere, but sleep somewhere else. And if your girl is a true biker, then book yourselves the biggest room in the house for the bargain price of around 500THB, a GREAT deal for CNX, esp considering the location.

For those with ADD, Phil and Som serve great food, are a wealth of local info, offer good clean cheap rooms, and Phil has the totally acceptable habit of storing his motorcycles under the same roof as he serves you the aforementioned food, drinks, and service.

I go to Rider’s sometimes for my fix of unhealthy food and a beer. Comfortable place for that, spacious seating and while right on the corner of the moat it is quite shielded from the traffic. I wouldn’t call their food “pub grub”, more like American “heart attack” food (though I think that the owner is British rather than American). The owner is a very sexy man and the staff is attentive enough; wifi works well, etc. Prices are on the low side for farang food in Chiang Mai but perhaps not “backpacker cheap”. Don’t go there with an expectation of it being fine dining and you’ll probably enjoy it. Especially recommended for motorcycle and bicycle tourers as you’ll meet a lot of kindred spirits there.

Stopped by here for a few drinks and the owner, Phil, an English ex-pat was very accomodating and friendly. Had a good chilled out night with a good atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Found this place on our first night, the owner and his wife were extremely helpful, offered a lot of advice about the local area and thailand in general. It's a relaxed and easy kind of place, doesn't deserve the two one star reviews. I won't say it's amazing or anything but its one of the better places to get a drink and some food we've found so far, good atmosphere, good service, I'd recommend stopping in any time
