“Fabulous eco-guesthouse in central Chiang Mai”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

What a lovely place. Great location within in the old town of Chiang Mai, down a very quiet street and within walking distance of various wat (temples). We had a king sized bed and private balcony. The staff were very helpful and hugely polite, pointing us in the direction of taxis and booking trips/courses we had independently found online (there was definitely no pressure of any kind to do trips/excursions through them/any partners). There were bikes you could use for free, communal cooking facilities and breakfast was next door in Good Morning Cafe - a cool little cafe with scrummy food and drinks. There was also free wifi. The only downside was a slight smell of sewage from the bathroom (but this was slightly to be expected given that it is a 'green guesthouse') - not enough to mention to the staff/to put us off! The room and bathroom were beautifully clean. Would definitely stay again!

We used Agoda to book this fabulous room in Chang Mai and we loved everything.
THe location is great, quiet alley in the bustle of the Old Quarter.
Walking to the little night food market around the corner near the moat.
Close to Chedi Luang and other important Wats.

They have excellent working bikes they give you for free every day. We loved pedaling around the Old City and out and about to all the sights in Chang Mai. The night market was close enough to pedal, but after dark we hailed a tuk tuk for 40 baht instead. Made the Singha and food more enjoyable.

The rooms are very modern and sleek which is nice after staying at so many more traditional Lana style places. We had a very sleek decor with a great bathroom and shower. The beds were super comfy and the linens very clean.

The staff was very nice and family oriented. Obviously there are some western minds at work behind this joint, cause they "get it". I mean they understand all the little details which made it a perfect stay.

The breakfast is served next door in a fab cafe. REal coffee, I should espresso. Properly pulled. Delicous. Eggs were farm fresh. Fruits and Yogurt all fantastic. Set in a nice hip environment.

My wife loved every minute of her first trip to Chang Mai and I am sure this hotel helped with that feeling.

Cheers guys, well done.

The room over here is quite big and nice. Peaceful environment really suitable for relaxing. Free bicycle is really worth it for us go to the market and old city. Price is very reasonable and the breakfast at the good morning chiang mai is very nice! Erm... it is quite near to the sunday night market (walking distance). The service over here also very good!

We stayed at GORD for 2 nights. Our room is at 2nd floor, big and clean, with a private balcony. There is a computer on the common area of 2nd floor. We didnt use it as there is free wifi inside the hotel. I like it the most is the Swing Chair on the balcony of 2nd floor.

Go down to the 1st floor, there is a open kitchen. We cooked instant noodle (5 baht each offered by the hotel) as breakfast on the second day of stay. Although breakfast is included, it operates from 8-10am. We could not catch it as we needed to join a tour. There are tables and chairs on the common area of 1st floor.

The breakfast will be served at a cafe just next to the hotel- Good Morning Chiang Mai. It is a stylish cafe and a good place to take photos. Food is average and portion is fair.

Cons: The water is not hot enough in the bathroom. No streetlights at the surrounding area of the hotel, it is quite dark if you walk back to hotel at night.

We loved our stay at the Gord Hotel in Chiang Mai. The rooms were immaculate and stylish as well. The breakfast was delicious---served in a lovely restaurant right beside the hotel--my favorite was the fresh fruit with granola and yogurt. The location is in a residential neighborhood a 10 minute walk-- or a tuk tuk ride away from the heart of the city. You can borrow a bicycle and ride around if you'd like. The staff were warm and friendly.... Always helpful!

Gord is a small boutique hotel situated in an old town of Chiangmai, only 5 minutes walk to Wat Chedi Luang and Saturday night walking street market at Wua Lai and 10 minutes walk to Sunday night walking street market at Tha Pae. This stylish place also offers every guests a free bicycle rent to enjoy the town.

The Double Bed Room is more than enough for 2 people. Huge, modern, and clean. Bathroom is also large. Satellite TV, free Wifi and small fridge are all equipped in the room. Gord also provides 2 communal areas, one is a kitchen on 2nd floor and another one is a living room on 3rd floor.

My not so favourite about this hotel is its breakfast. The breakfast restaurant next door is very artistic and picturesque. However, the breakfast served is very limited in term of quantity and choice, and it's not a buffet. Definitely it's not enough for breakfast-lovers when compare to some other hotels in the same price range that do provide buffet breakfast. But Chiangmai itself has so many restaurants open in the early morning, both oriental and western style. So, no big deal.

Room Tip: The hotel doesn't have elevator, so, if you're not convenient with walking up and down the s...

Large, clean modern room. Nice bathroom and shower, friendly staff. To be honest there is nothing really to complain about. When compared to the usual you get in other parts of thailand for 1000 baht this place is great value. There are some comments about the location, for me it was fine although I can understand why a single female may not feel comfortable walking around in poorly lit areas. There are a stack or restaurants maybe 10 mins walk away and it is far enough from the main drag to make it peaceful. Carry a location map and any taxi will find it no problem, the hotel will give you one - or give them the name of the nearest temple. I would recommend this place no problem, it's a good safe bet.
