“The good reviews about this place are no joke.”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

I just got back from Piccola Roma Palace. I decided to go there based on all of the positive TA reviews, so I feel obligated to report back here.

We had a great experience. I ordered a salad that was big enough for us to share. I had chicken parm, and my lady had the sauteed sole fish. Both dishes were fantastic. The owner (I believe) joked with us and laughed, and made us feel very comfortable, and he also took great care in helping us order and preparing our dishes. We had tiramisu for dessert, and it was some of the best I've ever had. I live here in Chiang Mai, so we will definitely be going back.

The only thing I would say is that some people may consider it a bit pricey for Chiang Mai (although we did have salad, 2 entrees, wine, and dessert), it came out around 1800 baht. I felt like it was worth every single baht, but I can see how some might think it's steep.

“A must visit!”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Angelo, the executive chef is charming and really makes your visit special! He explains the daily fresh homemade pasta options and his staff is very attentive and accommodating. Even if there are others in the restaurant, you'll feel as if you're table is the only one. Excellent, authentic food and wonderful atmosphere. If you don't come here, you're missing out!

“Top Class Italian Chef in Chiang Mai”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Tonight I had the chance to be served by a world class chef in his own restaurant. The food experience has been amazing: it was of the best quality I ever had in Italy (and this is Thailand!), The ingredients were fresh and the portions were very generous. The service was so familiar and welcoming I had the feeling I was served by an old friend with a cracking sense of humor. The man has 50 years experience and his fine cuisine has been appreciated by a number of royal families. If you are in Chiang Mai it is worth the treat.

Grazie Simona.
Cordialmente

“What a Surprise”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

I was looking for a place to eat last night in Chiang Mai and searched in TripAdvisor (of course!). I was taking a couple of Thai friends to dinner and one of them had never had authentic Italian.
The Piccolla Roma Palace is definitely authentic.
A small, intimate place it owned and operated by it's Chef.A charming, older Italian who has ended up in Chiang Mai.Check the website for , the story.
We had the sole, mushroom risotto and the night's special, sausage pasta. All of it wonderful. The soups were rich and flavor-able.
Service is smooth and leisurely. The Chef supervises food preparation and service.
My Thai friends immediately noticed pictures of the Queen dining here (they take their royal family seriously in Thailand) and were very impressed!
Dinner for three with a bottle of wine and desert ran US$245 (including tip).

“Best Italian food I have had”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

My family regularly dine here but this was my first time. The food was incredible, the servings are extremely generous but I managed to eat all of it ! I couldn't decide what to order so the chef recommended the Pomodoro pasta with mozzarella, which was simple and delicious. Great home-made pasta and very friendly staff. I will definitely return next time I am in Chiang Mai, its best Italian food I have had. Delightful experience.
