I am sure the food is good; the place was nearly full. Moreover, the customers appeared French in the majority--always the sign of a good French restaurant. Nevertheless, I did not have the opportunity to enjoy a meal.
For fifteen minutes I was seated at a table without a drink or a menu. It's not that the sole waitress was ignoring me; she simply had her hands full. The owner made one appearance--to speak briefly to friends at an inside table. Then he disappeared, presumably to lend a hand in the kitchen.
Finally I gave up and left. But in a country where labor is cheap, there's no excuse for cutting corners on service--other than a miserly perspective with respect to paying another salary. Moreover, in looking at previous reviews, I see that I am not the only customer complaining about the same shortcoming. Chiang Mai has a number of fine French restaurants. Finding alternatives to La Terrasse is all too easy...
