“Good location, pleasant stay, but unexciting.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2012

This hotel met our most basic criteria, which are location, cleanliness and sleep quality. However, it didn't really provide anything much extra. The room was spacious and modern and nicely decorated, but the decor is nothing special and appeared to be quite superficial.

The location was really great - kind of in between the Thapae Gate (east gate of the Old City) and the Night Bazaar, so most of the main sights in Chiang Mai city itself was within a convenient walking distance. The breakfasts were very unexciting - the food was boring and not well made (I ended up sticking to muesli and yoghurt everyday) and the staff, although not rude, were disinterested and looked miserable to be there.

In room wifi was almost non-existent - it was really difficult to get a connection, but wifi was fine in the lobby and breakfast room.

I didn't care about the pool, but for those who do, it was more like a water feature than an actually swimming pool.

The mosquitoes at the hotel were BAD. Our room was on the 2nd floor, which is probably worse than some of the higher floors, but our room had about a dozen mossies in it when we checked in. It was so bad that we immediately went to get inspect spray from the 7-11 around the corner and gave the room a thorough spray. We also hung the 'do not disturb' sign at our door for our whole stay so that housekeeping didn't need to clean our room and leave our door open for more mossies to come in.

Overall, it was a good stay at this hotel as the basics are covered. But I wouldn't recommend booking this hotel if you think you'll be getting little extras.

Room Tip: When ordering coffee a breakfast, ask for a coffee from the espresso machine. Otherwise you will ge...

We loved everything about this hotel from the friendly staff to the really comfortable beds. Its in a back street but close to all the action. We wished that we had stayed here longer. 10 out of 10 from us plus a good price as well.

We spent only 2 nights in this hotel. The localization of the hotel is pretty good: near the main streets but located in a small quiet streets. The staff is very good: kind, really polite and always ready to help you for anything.

Now the rooms: to be honest it's one of the most beautiful room i have ever seen: first of all they are spacious with an open bathroom and the decoration is wonderful. You will have the opportunity to sleep in good beds and for those who like it, you have a giant TV.

The swimming pool is also very nice with a pearled ground but the water is pretty cold (this is why we were always alone in it).

I really suggest you this hotel and i'm sure that you will enjoy it!

I stayed here on a recent trip with my 13 year old son and it was a real find. The decor of the rooms is extremely tasteful and the fixtures and fittings are high quality giving the whole room a superior and very "classy" feel. Gorgeous comfy beds, huge bathroom and the room size was fantastic. Not tripping over our bags and shopping all the time. The pool area was somewhat small and didn't seem to get a whole lot of sun but it was again very elegant and well maintained. All in all a real find and so reasonable for the price. Lovely Thai hospitality at the front desk and well informed tour advice too. We're going back!

This hotel will exceed your expectations from start to finish. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff (who speak excellent English) and delicious drinks! The rooms are very spacious and have interesting architectural additions that will surprise you, such a sliding bathroom doors and mirrors. Everything is very modern and clean, the air conditioning works perfectly. If you like the small details you will love this hotel - you can control all the lights and music and air conditioning from your bedside table! It is well located, a short walk from the night bazaar and they will happily arrange trips for you. Not that you need to leave the hotel because the spa is luxurious and well priced. This is perfect for those who want to chill out. I went with friends but I think it would also be very romantic for couples. Give it a try, I think no matter how fussy you are you will not be disappointed.

I stayed with 4 friends in De Chai for a four day stay and it was heaven. I would reccommend it to families and couples and a group of friends wanting a relaxing and spoiling stay in the up-market backpacker area of Chiang Mai. There is an extraordinary spa downstairs and delicious food and it is walking distance from many more places to wine and dine. They also offer brilliant day trips with generous discounts for groups. The staff are helpful and jolly and we were greeted by the owner personally who asked how we found everything. It is not for party people but a spoiling and luxurious boutique hotel which is relaxed and unpretentious - you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We had deluxe but I am sure they are all

Very nice boutique hotel, walking distance to the night bazaar. Staff at hotel were more than accommodating (extremely helpful). The hotel is clean. The rooms are very nice and spacious. Breakfast was ok. The common amenities were ok. No fitness room and the pool is just ok.
