Beats any zoos in Australia. Came up close and got to feed elephants, giraffes and leopards. Truly amazing experience. Don't think you can really beat that.
I don't see why some people are complaining about the entry fee and subsequent costs to see some specific exhibits. If you're earning euro, us or au dollars 1:30 currency conversion honestly. It costs like what $50 for melbourne zoo, that's 1500BHT just to get in the zoo. Considering feeding the animals costs only 20bht here, in western zoos you rarely get the opportunity to even do so. If you want to complain about the 120bht it costs to get on the bus, well then walk. I don't remember there even being a bus at melbourne zoo.
Visited today, 5th March 2013 and there was a lot of construction and expansion work going on. It's the middle of a city so you have to understand there is only oh so much room before you start knocking down peoples houses to make room for a lion enclosure. Anybody who's been to melbourne vs werribee zoo will understand. When you're in the middle of nowhere like werribee zoo fine give animals all the space they want - but honestly werribee zoo sucked as the animals were soooooo far away you needed eagle vision to even see them.
It's worth a visit definitely, I think a lot of people saying don't visit the zoo cause the animals have no space have to consider where the money comes from that pays for all this. It's a commercially operated so the less visitors the less money there is for the animals and any chance of expansion or renovations. Same if it was government run, you can't put all your money in running a zoo as that'll mean taking money away from hospitals and education. If you're visited thailand you've got to be blind to not work out that the conditions the animals live in are a lot better than some of the people who actually live there.
