Description: Our beautiful location is on the North side of the moat that surrounds the quaint "old city" of Chiang Mai. It is a perfect place to sit, enjoy the breeze, sunlight and people watching on the main road. The interior is attractive, colorful and bright with our student's art work and long share tables to encourage customers to sit together and make new friends or private tables and a small sofa in the kids corner where there are plenty of books, toys and art supplies to keep the kids happy while parents enjoy their healthy vegetarian or vegan western or local style breakfast, lunch, smoothies or coffee and dessert. We serve many Burmese and ethnic foods that you can't get anywhere else so it is fun to try something new! We also have a fun and funky little Pre-Loved Charity Shop in the cafe where you can not only donate your old clothing, household items, books and more but purchase goods and support our charity at the same time. We have loads of English language novels, travel guides, hats, shoes, scarves, jewelry, men's and women's clothing and more. We also sell organic spirulina, triphala and natural skin care products from local vendors. Please come and check us out today! You can park cars, motorbikes and bicycles along the side of the building.

I could easily become a Vegetarian if I could eat this food every day.
Not only is the food delicious, the service is so friendly. There is a spiritual vibe about this place, which is no wonder. The restaurant supports and encourages people to be aware of the plight of Burmese refugees.
They also sell an assortment of new and second hand and donated items at incredibly reasonable prices.
I was gobsmacked by the assortment of delicious food and the freshness as everything is made from scratch. You may wait a little longer (which we didn't) but every mouthful would be worth it.

I just wanted to drop a line to tell you that your comment about being able to become a vegetarian if you could eat this food everyday has stuck with a few customers who came in and said they were not vegetarian but decided to try us out, based on that! So, thank you for brining in new business and maybe even converting future vegetarians!

This place has a warm heart, they do loads of education and other things for refugees, which is really nice. You can feel the warmth of this place, it emenates out of the walls. Very nice food at fair prices, too bad they close for dinner.

Freebird cafe has some of the best food in town including various Burmese dishes that are not so easy to find around Chiang Mai. The tealeaf and Pennyroyal salads are really excellent. Try the salad sampler. Delicious smoothies and incredible vegan deserts. The Key lime pie is amazing. The staff is super friendly and there is a used clothing store attached to the restaurant. The only drawback is its location. Not that easy to find on the North side of the moat - easy to miss the sign. Also kind of a busy and noisy street. Otherwise, this place is a real gem.

i've walked through the old city determined to try one of the best food places with the cause, however they were closed on Sunday around 3 pm with no sign and no update on their website. If you wish to go there, might be worth giving them a call to confirm they are open.

This is simply the best of many restaurants I have checked out in chiang mai. It's a lovely atmosphere in the cafe, the staff and owners are lovely and the food and drinks are amazing. I recommend the raw key lime pie and the salad sampler with red rice!
Can't wait to go back again!
