“Called and delivered forgotten camera battery charger”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2012

I kid you not. Ti the amazing young woman that runs Sabuy called us after we had left and alerted us to having left behind our camera charger and camera battery. We were about 10 miles out of the city. She got on her mad cool leather accessorized motorcycle and met us at a McDonald's at Mae Rim. I was already a big fan having stayed at Sabuy 3 times during a 3 month volunteer stint north of Chiang Mai. The location is perfect and the quant little street is bookended by fancy (expensive) hotels. This is a hidden treasure with a lovely little court yard that Ti is always puttering around in. The rooms are simple, clean and kept up nicely. The place has a little bit of an artsy vibe which we loved.

We arrived at Sauby and found the room basic but clean, and the bathroom was very good for this budget - even a step and shower curtain so the loo didn't get wet.

We had hoped to stay for 5 days but left after 2 :(

The reasons were the bed was 2-singles (bunk-bed?) joined together, so not great for passion! The top sheets were just towels. The curtains were very light so it wakes you up early. The windows are shutter type so you hear noise, and sadly at our time of staying there was a building site behind the room.

THAT SAID - when looking elsewhere to move we checked 4-5 places of similar and slightly higher price and everything was worse. We ended up elsewhere paying almost double as we wanted a quiet place to stay.

So really, for the money, it is a good place especially if you don't want to sleep in.

after spending a horrible night at pagoda, we went for a search of a room. During weekend and flower festival, almost everything seemed full or looked horrible, until we came across this small place with beautiful small wooden bar and garden in front. Hidden in a quiet alley in the downtown, close to all the sites, nightlife and restaurants, we were really happy. Its probably the best value for the money we have come across in the whole thailand. Staff amazing, hot shower, bright clean spacious room, real gem. This should be first place to go once you arrive to chiang mai!
They even gave us a ride to a bus when the pick up from company never came.

Aun and Tapoew are the best hosts we've had while visiting that area. Although, we don't stay at the guesthouse every year we go, they have become good friends. We usually stay outside the city now. We always drop in for a chat. Their English is very good and have now opened a little language school on site. Tapoew takes great care with her garden and is a great cook. It's amazing what she can whip up from her tiny kitchen. Aun will even offer rides to the airport on occasion. Also, they love to chat about attractions to see. We'll see you again in 2012!

I found this gem on Tripadvisor and signed up straight away just to write a review for these guys. Great location, clean and friendly and the owner even runs morning Thai language courses for travellers that are great fun. Situated down a very quiet residential street but only a few minutes walk from the best activities of Chiang Mai. The rooms are clean and airy and the hot water is always hot. The rooms are situated around a lovely tropical garden and if you are there at the right time can even possibly pick your own bananas from the tree. The owner Aun also runs Thai language classes for travellers that teach you all you need to know to make your stay in Thailand easier, I don't think I've had such fun for ages as the few hours I spent with Aun learning Thai.

Very good place to stay.
It's the 2nd time we stay in Sabuy GH and we will stay here again if we come back in Chiang Mai !
Rooms are clean and cheap, the owners are very friendly and it's in a very quiet street in the middle of the old city.
Don't go anywhere else !
