“Bustling area with some great deals.”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

This is a place frequented by mostly Thai people, not tourists. You can get much better deals than the other markets geared towards selling cheap made in China souvenirs to travelers passing through the city. It also has a TON of food to purchase as well, either to take with you or for a quick meal, including several well priced snacks. I enjoyed my time wandering here and found some good deals on items for myself and some special items to give as souvenirs. If you're okay with crowds and heat, give it a go!

“Good bargain. Don't miss the shopping opportunity”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

You have to be persistent, bargain don't get intimidated by the sellers. If you don't like what you hear or get, walk away. Chances are you'll get to see other stalls selling the same items who will be glad to give you the price you want.

Beware of pick-pockets and the heavy traffic around. Tuk tuk plenty.

“Shopping frenzy”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

There is so much merchandise at this market that if you are not careful you become overwhelmed by the variety and come away not buying anything ... and that is from a shopper!

Great gifts - bags, shirts, nick nacks ... there is a wholesale section where bags can be bought at crazy prices and bartering is not accepted. I bought a gorgeous bag for 250 baht there and after chatting with a lady there found that she buys bulk lots of 50 per style and pays 240 for them - the prices are much lower than other shops which is why discounts are not given.

Lots of Chinese producs that I could buy in Brisbane's chinatown . My favourites were the varieties of bag and the smaller gift items. Remember to carry a water bottle with you. I found a morning of full on shopping was quite exhausting.

“Crazyness...!!”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

It is without a question a vibrant market, which is not focussed on tourists. No, here you Will see THE locals shopping. But be aware... It is sooo hectic, many many people, Cars, busses, tuktuks, motorbikes... All Passing by...

Here you Will find anything you can buy on THE other CNX markets , but cheaper... From, clothes, to peanuts, fresh vegatables, fruits to hairproducts, curry pastes and suitcases... Etc. Just name it and you can buy it on THE market. And not to forget THE foodstalls, with Thai dishes... Good and cheap off course!!

Good to GO there, to try and feel THE athmosphere yourself, but me personally, found it too crowded!!

“Worth an afternoon”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

I was sorry I had limited time to visit this market. It feels like a piece of real Chiang Mai as it is a market for the local people and not focussed on tourists. You can find all kinds of clothing, gold jewelry, food and flowers. There is a corner that is used by the Hmong people to live and work in and they have a wider selection of their handiwork than you will find at the night bazaar. There is a chinese temple in one corner like a little surprise as you walk into it. And just the rush and noise of people is invigorating to watch and be a part of as you wander. But don't just stay in the centre of it all, wander to the outer limits too - there are some unique clothing artists on the outlying street like Tapae Road where I found May Cotton and Nina's jewelry and others too - local artisans developing unique products like you'd find in other cosmopolitan cities for sale to upscale locals or tourists, or people looking for something different than all the other tourists are wearing.
