Location is very good and the hotel is ok, but I struggle to see how people can give it 5/5.
You are paying for a central location with a pool which in Chiang Mai is hard to come by. There are lots of hotels outside the old city walls with pools but not too many inside. It is better to stay in the walls but then the drawback is the hotels are not as value for money... as in they are like this.
Breakfast wasn't great as food wasn't replenished throughout the morning so if you arrive at say 9am you have what is left. Food in the restaurant wasn't great at other meal times either.
Rooms are ok but a little tired as us the pool area. It just needs freshening up a little as they have a great location as I've previously mentioned.
For $100 a night I'd expect more.
