Rachamankha Flora House
Ranked #190 of 809 Chiang Mai B&B and Inns
Reviewed May 2, 2012

The property is on a side road--a bit far from much of the action--but beautifully appointed and tics all the boxes for a charming B&B. They have no restaurant for breakfast but offer a voucher at the small acfe next door which was also very pleasant. The owners are delightful--but watchful and chatty. You cannot really be anonymous here. I agree with the enthusiastic responses of others.

My husband and I stayed at Flora House for only one night, but it was great. We stayed on the top floor and had a little private balcony overlooking a courtyard. Everything looked pretty new and the husband and wife owners were very friendly. They held our bags for us all day while we were out. There are flowers everywhere and it smells wonderful! The room and bed were quite large. The only drawback was the small amount of hot water available. You can also purchase breakfast with your room at the coffee shop next door. The coffee was fantastic.

Friendly and helpful host, tidy room, clean bathroom and perfect location, within the old town. Para los turistas españoles, BB muy recomendable para aquellos que pasen unos días en Chiang Mai visitando templos.

Our experience at the Rachamankha Flora House was awesome. It is a lovely house with sparkling clean floors and lots of flowers. Our room on the top floor had a small private terrace, as well as a shared semi-outdoor space in front of the door. As has been noted, the couple who run it are super sweet and helpful and made us feel very much at home. The location is central enough that you can reach many places in the city by foot. During our stay we took breakfast at Elliebum as part of the room at Rachamanka - coffee and breakfast was always delicious (especially the pancakes) although I found the portions a little on the small side.

Chiang Mai is a lovely city and this is a very pleasant option for accommodation that we would definitely consider again in the future.

This is a really great small guest house. The property is very pretty, covered in both gorgeous landscaping and more jungly growth in the back. The guest house is impeccably clean, and the staff was so nice and accomodating. We ended up hiring the husband of the woman working at the front desk to drive us around, and it was a great decision. They all made excellent recommendations for sights, food, and getting around. We couldn't have been happier with the way we were treated while we stayed here -- it was really like being family. The room was comfortably sized and the bathroom was clean and in service, though nothing fancy. Though there is not central a/c, the room we were in had a very effective wall-mounted unit that cooled the room quite quickly when we were going to sleep in the evenings. Finally, the location is excellent. It's inside the city walls, within walking distance to most every city sight.

The only complaint is that the beds were hard as rocks -- even for Thailand, which has notoriously hard beds. They were a bit uncomfortable, but after walking around Chiang Mai and surrounding locales for the days we were here, we felt right to sleep without much of a problem.

If you're looking for a small and relatively inexpensive place to stay, I doubt you'll find one friendlier and cuter than this in Chiang Mai.

Just got back from Chiangmai last week after another wonderful stay at the Rachamankha Flora House for 16 days! I still had problems with getting the lady that cleaned our room to take the daily tips that I left for her out of gratitude and guilt because my girlfriend (Thai) has a hard time getting out of bed until at least 11AM if she is not going to her job. Just as before the staff was very helpful and were perfect hosts, especially Mr. Korn and his wife. From now on I think we will always stay there when I come to Chiangmai because Da (my girlfriend) now says that she likes it better than The Meridien which is glowing praise indeed, I decided that when we stayed there in May but having worked in a hotel for 25 years I am probably have judgement that is somewhat jaded in this regard that she is not burdened with. I am thinking of going back in December for Christmas and will certainly want to stay there again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the Rachamankha Flora House. The owners were wonderful hosts and especially spoilt our kids with their kindness. As a family they were able to accomodate us in two rooms on the 4th Floor. The rooms are well equipped and very clean and comfortable. On rainy days, as we visited in the wet season, this was a little haven. Our kids felt that staying at the guest house was the highlight of their stay in CM. There is no eating area in the Guest House, instead you are provided with breakfast vouchers for the small cafe just outside of the garden, this too is another pleasant experience. We would really like to thank the owners for making our stay such an enjoyable experience.
