The best night out to be had in Chiang Mai. You sit at low tables on cushions around the large central performance area. It is very spacious, tastefully lit by many lanterns and is open air - so remember insect repellent.
The food is never ending, a great selection of traditional Thai dishes, small portions but a lot of variety.
The whole meal and show lasts from 8-10pm. The show is in two parts, don't miss out on the second part when you have to move to a smaller enclosed amphitheatre with proper seating.
The first show lasts an hour while you eat and has the long fingernail dancers, candle dance and some tricks with knives. The second show is just 30 minutes and showcases dances, musical instruments and costumes of various hill tribes. As you leave some very very young children line the exit route and sing for money, which seemed a bit wrong.

Sat on the floor and had a good dinner (all-you-can-eat), show helped me understand the different cultures in the Chaing Mai area. For the price it was worth the time.

Do not bother, especially if you are interested in authentic Thai dance. I should have listened to other reviewers. The sword dance and the dragon dance were OK. Everything else was poorly done and very amateurish. Your 11 year old niece could do better..

To our valued customer, apologies for taking some time to respind to your review, we have recently learnt how to manage our trip advisor page.

We would like to use this oppportunity to clarify that the dances we have here are authentic Thai dancing however as we are in the northern region they are of Lanna heritage. Thailand is a large country with each region having their own type of culture, whether it be the dialect, the dances, the food or the heritage.

We hope that one day you come back and experience more of our Lanna heritage and culture. The staff at the Old Chiang Mai Cultural center are always happy to serve you. Thank you for leaving a review.

We really did enjoy the dances and traditional tribes performance...

Very good traditional Thai food and wonderful ambiance...

We had a great evening and it was affordable for such a long show (don't miss the 2nd part with traditional tribes dances and performances... Well worth it!!!)

This was a nice experience sitting down for traditional unlimited Thai food followed by Thai cultural show. The price for food is included in the entrance fee. If you have restrictions for food, inform in advance and they will provide a different one. the main show was excellent. There is another one following that in a different part of the center that is some what slow, but overall experience is good. It is inexpensive compared to the one near Bangkok.
