The best night out to be had in Chiang Mai. You sit at low tables on cushions around the large central performance area. It is very spacious, tastefully lit by many lanterns and is open air - so remember insect repellent.
The food is never ending, a great selection of traditional Thai dishes, small portions but a lot of variety.
The whole meal and show lasts from 8-10pm. The show is in two parts, don't miss out on the second part when you have to move to a smaller enclosed amphitheatre with proper seating.
The first show lasts an hour while you eat and has the long fingernail dancers, candle dance and some tricks with knives. The second show is just 30 minutes and showcases dances, musical instruments and costumes of various hill tribes. As you leave some very very young children line the exit route and sing for money, which seemed a bit wrong.
