Yes, that's right. I say the Tanita House is for everyone, not just budget travelers, unless you're determined to be into $400 a night hotels. The Tanita House is an oasis in the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai with an excellent location for a good walk into the old city or simply a walk across the street for riverside dining at half a dozen excellent restaurants. Aor (pronounced Awww) is the Manager and she is delightfully helpful. The setting is serene as the property is set off from the road for quiet and shaded by towering trees standing out over the manicured petite lawn. Easy to lounge around and relax in different areas including a simple breakfast area that includes inside and outside tables and access to a computer for no charge. Sweet simple rooms with a good bathroom and shower means you'll not feel short changed for the Tanita's very reasonable room rates. Book in advance because there are only six rooms. Laundry service is 100 paces down the street. This place has all the charm you could hope for so book it now! You couldn't possibly be disappointed.

We stumbled upon Tanita House and it turned out to be the best choice for our stay in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We tried to stay more nights than our 4 but they were booked. Chiang Mai can be a little noisy and crazy and the Tanita House was peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was great....all the coffee you can drink plus tea, water, cereal, eggs, toast, and fruit and yogurt. There is also a computer for your use and wifi if you have your own computer. The owner, Aor, was so sweet and helpful and even drove us to our other hotel after our stay at the Tanita House. It isn't fancy but it was perfect for us.

We stayed here for five nights based on TripAdvisor reviews and were so glad we did. Our accommodations were one of the cozy cabins on this lovely property. Aor is a sweet and helpful host. Breakfast was delicious and generous, with self serve fruit, granola, yogurt, coffee, tea, toast, etc. and made to order bacon and eggs. There is drinking water and other drinks supplied all the time, a big plus. It is not right in the old town, which means some walking or a tuk tuk, but also means it is a tranquil oasis. Aor's collection of antiques is quite impressive, and the whole property is like going to another world. It has been in her family and has a wonderful, old world charm. I highly recommend staying here. One tip: there is a foot bridge crossing the river that was "closed" (not sure the status now) but we ducked under the barrier and used it anyway - just like the locals. It is a great short cut to the markets on the other side and perfectly safe. This was in Oct. 2012.

We really enjoyed our one night stay at Tanita House and wished we could have stayed for longer.

Wonderfully located, helpful host and a very comfortable stay.

Tea, coffee, yoghurt and juice available in the fridge at all times and the breakfast was delicious!

We would definitely stay again.

We had concerns about mosquitoes (given there was not a net), but were pleasantly surprised that our room was mosquito free.

It's a year since we stayed here but I thought it's better late than never to write a review. We really enjoed the two nights we stayed here and wished we could have stayed longer. It is in a great location and the whole place has a welcoming and very charming atmosphere. Our wooden cabin was beautiful and we felt so safe and comfortable there. The breakfast was lovely and our host was great, she organised wonderful trips for us each day. We would highly recommmend Tanita and would love to return.

Set close to the vibrant night life of the river and a short tuk tuk journey to the old town, Tanita is an oasis of calm and Thai hospitality. A communal garden and breakfast area full of charm and art welcomes you. Rooms are wooden cabins with air con in the bedroom and ensuite facilities. Immaculately clean with a hearty breakfast included, this is our favourite place to stay in all of our Thailand travels. The lady owner will help with anything, whist there is a super laundry and good bike hire just outside the gates.

I visited Chang Mai January 2013 and stayed here for two nights. i would recommend to anyone visiting Chang Mai. It is a beautiful place by the river and is run by an extremely caring and nice women who knows everything about the things to do and see in Chang Mai and will go out of her way to help you. It is really nice being away from the centre of town but still within walking distance. And if a 15 minute walk is too much then a tuk tuk will take you there in 5. Lovely place and lovely people. Coming back after a day out really felt like coming home.
