The hotel is in a very good location. Its location is directly opposite Tha Pae gate and next to Sunday walking street. I stayed at standard room which is neat and tidy. However, I can hear noises from the street. (my room was on the third floor with a street view). Overall, it is value for money and I'll stay at this hotel again but will ask for a room on the other side of the building to avoid street noises.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a room which isn't on the street side to avoid street noises.

We loved visiting Chiang Mai! On our second visit here, we stayed at the Hotel M. The hotel is in a prime location opposite Tha pae gate, where the Sunday walking market starts. The rooms were extremely clean and there was even a proper glass shower cubicle, that's rather rare in Thailand! The staff here are also very friendly. We visited the restaurant one afternoon for a quick lunch and the food was pretty good. Even the mini bar in the room was super cheap!! Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Tried several hotels in CM - some OK, some shocking
Neat, modern & clean rooms. everything worked
Car parking can be interesting, but there is no need for a car - very thing is right there
Night market on the side street, GREAT english breakfast down the street, plenty of cars within walking distance.
Will be staying here next trip.

Loved this place, great location and so very cheap which may have been due to renovations.
The room was lovely and new looking and bathroom very modern albeit a little cramped.
The internet provided was terrible, slow and overpriced but they had better value just a short walk away.

The hotel M has the perfect location for exploring Chiang Mai and indeed northern Thailand. You cannot be better located in Chiang Mai.
The staff is very professional and kind.
The rooms are perfectly clean and even spacious.
A very good value for the money.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room.

So we arrived at this hotel without looking at any reviews. It was getting late and we needed somewhere to stay.

The price was right at 1000 baht (I'm not sure if this is the regular rate or if it is a discounted rate as there are renovations being carried out). I was very pleasantly surprised upon entering the room. It was clean, spacious and even a little bit luxurious with the way it had been fitted out. The elephants made of towels on our beds were also a nice touch after a long day of traveling.

Hotel staff were fantastic.

We found the location of this hotel was very good. It is located right on the moat around the old city. Many great things are easy enough to reach by foot. Plenty of taxis and tuk tuks waiting around to give you a lift also. Across the road you've got the usual suspects such as McDonalds, 7 Eleven, Starbucks. There are ton's of restaurants nearby.

The noise from the road can be a little loud at times (you could request a room at the back of the hotel) but it didn't really bother me even though I'm a bit of a light sleeper.

The only problem we had with the room was the beds. They were comfortable enough but because of the wheels on the beds and the smooth surface on the floor it was difficult to sit up in bed to read or watch TV without the bed rolling forward.

I would suggest that people avoid the restaurant. My son and I shared a coconut seafood curry (as recommend by our waiter) and I couldn't believe how bad it was. It even seemed like there was scrambled egg in it. Seriously?
For breakfast, one of my fried eggs had raw egg white. Both the breakfast and dinner was the worst food we ate in Thailand and we actually got sick from it. I don't think the kitchen has the highest standards. Once, when we passed the kitchen window, one of the female staff was dipping into some of the food having a snack. Looked like she felt guilty when she realised we saw her.

The other issue is that the restaurant looks after the computers with internet and printer access (although you do get free wifi at the hotel). I needed to print of my boarding passes and it was a major drama of internet connections being reestablished, printers being connected, changing stations because the internet dropped out. I kept having to go into the restaurant to get this sorted out, bit of a hassle for a single page. The staff who run the restaurant aren't really up to the standard of the other hotel staff.

Thought this hotel was good until we realized the staff had included breakfast (which is optional) in our bill and when we said we did not want breakfast they refuse to refund our money. The rooms are overpriced compared to other properties (including Bangkok!) Do yourself a favor and stay away from the unhelpful staff and inflated room prices.
