We are now on our way back. The food is nothing special. Actually, you will get better food in almost any Thai restaurant in town. Most of them are much much better. The show, except for the dressing and one item, is at the level you would get at any sixth grade graduation. In short, not worth the time and the money. Do yourselves a favor and go do something else.

First of all, we were supposed to be picked up at our hotel at 6:15PM and their driver arrived one hour late, so we lost an hour waiting and arrived late. When we arrived in the middle of the show, the staff was more worried in being paid for the late transport than helping us not lose more time. What we saw from the show was not great and after 45 minutes, even when we had not yet finished with our dinner they brought us the check. Really bad experience...

In the morning we participated in a tour that consisted of cooking Thai lunch with a local Lana family. The food was DELICIOUS.
We went to the Khantoke dinner expecting the same experience. The menu was the same as the one with the local family tour, but the quality and taste went to a very different level. We ended up not eating the food. The show preformers lacked experience. Many Asian and Western customers left the show early. We left at 8:30 pm and the room was getting empty even though the show still had one more hour left.

It was a great experience for me and my family. It was actually our first time watching a dinner show wherein guest are asked to remove their shoes upon entering the venue area.(Don't worry they have floor mats and the place is clean) The staffs were accommodating and attentive. Upon arriving, we were welcomed by a guide and served with a tea. Then, we were escorted to our seats. There were 5 different dishes, rice, banana fritters and fruits.

Based upon our our great experience 10 years ago at Khum Khantoke, we wanted to revisit. I wrote an email to the place with some specific questions. My email was acknowledged and there was a promise to contact me shortly which did not happen. Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, my Thai wife called to ask specifically about their photography policy and to ensure that we got a seating at the edge of the performance area. We assure that we would have such a location. We ended up 3 rows back despite seating at the edge being available for the entire performance. Upon arrival, our food was already waiting for us - tepid with the chicken being greasy. Ten years before the performance area was under a roof providing good lighting for seeing what you were eating and for the performance. The facility has expanded with most of the dining as well as the performance in an open air location with poor lighting for dining. Ten years ago, there were at least 5 hot dishes that I enjoyed - this time - only one. What I assumed were our hors-d'oeuvres ended being the meal. The performances were uninspired. It was not the dining experience that I had expected or appreciated.
