“Very Fine Dining”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

While visiting Chaing Mai a few weeks ago, we enjoyed two wonderful meals at Favola. It is a refreshing change from the average and often mediocre Itlian food found in the city. The service was excellent with a lovely young gentleman helping us with the wine selection that was in our price range. On different nights we had snow fish and risotto. The dishes were superb in taste and the portion size was perfect for two hearty eaters. This restaurant proves that fine dining is not synonymous with tiny portions. If you need a quiet night with great food and fine wine please enjoy this place.

“Wonderful food”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

After 3 weeks of eating pretty much exclusively Thai food topped off by a day of gluttony at an excellent Thai cooking class the day prior we were ready for a little variety. Favola provided just the ticket set in the heart of the night market with superb Italian cuisine on offer. The table service and ambiance of the Favola in the Le Meridian hotel were all one would hope for. The wine selection is excellent and I would strongly recommend any of the dishes we sampled: mushroom soup with truffle oil, Caprese salad, duo of lasagna or the slow cooked lamb.

The only downside of our experience was an obnoxiously loud, and I assume intoxicated, table of about 8 middle-aged women from the southern US stuck in the center of the restaurant and audible from down the street I’m sure. This really did detract from the dining enjoyment of the others in the restaurant. The manager of the restaurant really should have politely intervened or offered to move them to a private room. This is always a difficult situation for a restaurant to manage but it does separate the elite from the pack in running a fine dining establishment where the experience of all your customers
