“Very nice to stay!!”
Reviewed February 13, 2014

We stayed here for 4 nights.
The hotel is somewhat simple, but has a really nice and open atmosphere.
Rooms are clean and the bed is super, (and that is what you want!)
The swimming pool is small.
Breakfast is great, especially the eggs!
Personal is very helpful and nice, doing everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible!
Giving great advice on things to do in the arrear, and a friendly chat is always welcome.
This is not a 5 star resort, but a small nice break from that, situated in a quit area of Chang Mai, but still close enough to the center, and all facilities.

Room Tip: The superior rooms have a private balcony, and are more luxuries. There are only two of them.

The staff were very helpful in assisting with our inquiries. The facilities are lovely with a unique and cozy vibe. The only negative aspect of our stay was our room which had a consistent nasty smell coming from the toilet room. Our room, on the bottom floor was very noisy. You could hear the conversations of people sitting in the common area. There was also an annoying generator noise coming from the neighboring property through the bathroom.

Room Tip: DO not stay on the bottom floor

We stayed here for 4 nights before we moved on to vietnam and this hotel is just what we wanted nice quite area about 10 mins walk into the old town. Staff and owners were lovely nothing was a bother rooms were nice and clean shower was not the best but did not spoil a good room. Breakfast was nice could not fault it only thing I could if I was picking would be thevpool which was not of any use as was tiny and only got sun for a hour or 2 tops.

Pros:
Great location! We walked to the old city everyday and then got a tuk tuk if we needed to go further.

Pool

Cost

Spacious room

Good breakfast, but not included in room price- an extra 120 baht

Cons:
The biggest con was our room. Not sure if the sewer smells kept coming through the drain, but our room smelled like a bad bathroom everyday. Also, we stayed on the bottom floor right by the pool, which would have been ok, if the windows leading to the outside actually had glass on them. It was just wooden boards so you could literally hear every single conversation and they could hear yours. I have no idea if the rooms on the other floors are better, but i would advise staying off the ground floor.

The staff was def not as friendly as other places we stayed through out our Thailand and Cambodia vacation. They didn't do anything bad, just not as friendly or accommodating.

Location : 15 minutes by walking to Tha pae gate. The hotel located where is very quiet place so is perfectly to sleep.

Staffs : Helpful,useful and smiley ;-)

Rooms : The Hotel not as big so the room was unique and tidy but careful in the bathroom (floor abit slipping) bed is big enough and is was clean. (Hotel are provide dvd etc as you like to watch)

Breakfast and Bar : Breakfast is a set menu you can choose what you like (about 6 choices) and drink is quiet cheap but when you are drinking please make a note and write it down (for staffs to check later on)

Facilities : Pool quiet small but at least you can relaxing after you have walk too much in the centre of CM.

PS : if you do need more drink or food, should buy from outside because is not so many restaurant and bar nearby.

Room Tip: High floor!!!

The Castle is ideally placed being a 5 min walk to the main shopping area/temples etc.
The rooms were basic but nice and clean. The breakfast is quite good. There is a nice pool, it never sees the sun so it is extremely cold, the Europeans wouldn't get in so we (Aussies) felt we had to just to show them up.
We befriended a black cat that hangs around the hotel, it lives next door apparently.
There is a lot to do and see within an hours drive (get one of the red taxis, basically a ute and you sit in the back, it's more comfy than a tuk-tuk for longer rides, and cheaper), this is where the staff were fantastic, we arrived knowing nothing about the place, they gave us options, advice and called the taxis for us. They also made sure our kids were ok while I took my wife to a hospital.
I've stay in many 'fancier' places before but would not hesitate to return to the Castle.
