Staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. Pearl at the front desk speaks perfect English. Located in a residential area very near the gate to the old city. The rooms are generous and very clean. They could use some updating. The price is excellent for this guest house.

Spending some time in Chang Mai is a must do when you're in Thailand, an experience which only get better by staying in The Castle. Located a little bit outside the old city centre, but worth the walk. (or the tuk-tuk drive) It is really a nice place, with nice and ultraclean rooms, fully equipped to cater for traveller's needs. We stayed in the superior room and enjoyed every minute of it. An excellent bed, warm shower, a seperate toilet and a lovely balcony... Having our own gate felt a little like having a mansion far from home. Starting a busy day is easy after having enjoyed such a nice breakfast, but what we mostly remember was the efficiency of the staff. They know what you want and help you find the right trip for a day. We felt sorry to leave beautiful Chang Mai, thanks to the people off The Castle...

Wow couldn't ask for a nicer start to my time in Thailand! The castle was ideal! Right from the moment we arrived we felt right at home. They were expecting us, gave us a handy little map and overviewed the popular places to go, gave us a card that had directions to give the tuk tul driver making it easy for them to understand where to return us to. The pool was small but perfect! Breakfast was included and so yummy! It's a 7 min walk to the old city and a 10 min walk from the night bazaar (very worthwhile to go to). The rooms are cute and soo clean :) great price too!

We staid at the castle for 2 nights. The hotel is ok with nice staff. our room was located on the ground floor and it got pretty loud when kids were playing in the pool and at breakfast time.
conveniently appointed, the room was nkt the cleanest we ve had in Thailand so far (comparing with hotel of the same price).
We loved Chiang Mai and I think therr are better areas to stay at although this is very close to the inner city and quiet.

We are frequent visitors to Chiang Mai and usually try somewhere new each time we visit. This time we decided on a return trip to The Castle and we so glad we did, Pearl was as kind and helpful as we remembered from two years ago. one improvement they have made since our ealier stay, was to take the toilet out of the shower/wet room, a big improvement.
Breakfast was ordered the day before and hit the table at the requested time, so don't be late.
The food was fine and there was a good choice.
If I were rating The Castle on the basis of value for money, I would rank it number 1 in Chiang Mai.

We stayed at The Castle for a quick night in Jan 2012 with our family of 6 including 4 children ages 6 to 14. The rooms were a bit too small to fit another bed but they have two connecting rooms (a twin and a double) that the four kids shared and we were next door in a double taking three rooms total. The price at 100 dollars for all three rooms seemed quite fair. Each room had a toilet and shower but in two separate rooms both clean however the shower was the type that did not have a curtain or floor partition so you just got the whole shower room wet.....only a sink besides the shower so this was fine. Beds were quite firm but still comfortable. The rooms all looked out over an open hallway that viewed to the pleasant courtyard and little pool/cafe area below. The light in the hallway shown right through the white curtains being a bit bothersome and I thought that darker curtains could have helped this small annoyance (outside lights were turned out later in the evening). Breakfast was nicely prepared and presented and there was a good range to choose from. The staff were all very nice and accommodating and check in and out were efficient.
