Le Meridien Chiang Mai
Ranked #19 of 393 Hotels in Chiang Mai
Reviewed April 4, 2010

my husband and I just loved LeMeridien the room we stayed in was beautiful the hotel is very clean beautifully furnished staff were very friendly and only to happy to help with anything We had been emailing piyamaporn saensiriwong who is the reservation sales agent for the LeMeridien, piyamporn was more than helpful with our enquiries and makes you want to stay there. The pool was lovely but was just too cold to stay in long. The breakfast was great but I think they need to change some of menu items every couple of days for a better varity I would definately recommend this hotel and will be coming back to stay

Got a good deal here inc breakfast. Hotel is really convenient to night market and within easy walking distance of the old city. We asked for a room facing mountains on a higher floor following advice on ta, and were very pleased with our choice. Room very spacious and breakfast was incredible! Wonderful selection.
This is a newly built hotel, and am sure it will soon go much higher on the tripadvisor ratings!

We stayed 2 nights after 4 days in Bangkok...The hotel is kind of hip with world beats playing in the lobby sound system.....
The hotel was nice and clean,...The room was nice and with a decent view of the City...I am not sure if I will stay there again when we return....The service was ok....but could have been better...The front desk staff was either hot or cold......not sure what to expect everytime we went thru the lobby..
With that said....the staff at the pool was great...we jumped in for a 20 min dip and they had set towels and chairs for us right away.....RoomService was wonderful...and honest...I dropped a bunch of change and it was placed in order on the table....
RENT A SCOOTER FROM THE PLACE RIGHT NEXT TO IT...TIME OF OUR LIFE AND CHEAP...
PLUS THEY HAD GOOD SERVICE...

We had originally planned to stay at the Centara but was told about this hotel being the 'Mystery Hotel' on Wotif and decided to spend the extra and give it a try - and we are so glad we did!

The first thing we noticed was the gorgeous smell in the foyer - the lovely fragrance they burn every day. The front desk staff are very efficient and friendly. Location is great - especially when you have kids who don't want to shop in the night market for as long as mum.

Our rooms (Deluxe) were lovely - spacious and clean and we were very comfortable on the couch by the large window. The bathrooms are geat. Bed was super comfy and I liked that my room wasn't stuffy when you turned the airconditioning off - however our other room was a little warmer.
We received 15 minutes free internet per room - but unfortunately that was for the total for the whole stay - would have been great to get 15 minutes each day.

The pool was nice. My boys would have spent all day there if they could. The gym looked good and I will definitely give it a go when I stay again in May.

Breakfast is fantastic. Lovely fresh food. The juice shots are great (I loved the Mango and Chilli) and my husband loved the little breakfast souffles they brought around. The pancakes were a hit with my son. Just make sure you wear your aerogard - yes there were some mozzies at breakfast (but they didn't eat much).

We had a drink in the Favola restaurant and the barman made amazing cocktails and entertained my sons with a magic trick and his fantastic sense of humour.

I am travelling with my mum to Chiang Mai at the end of May and we will be staying at the Meridien (another great Mystery Hotel deal) - looking forward to it!

We booked a prepaid room including breakfast for two for ~$114 inc. tax, not a lot by western standards, but pricey for the area. As a Starwood Gold member, we got upgraded to the Preferred Guest floor to a very nice room. The room was adequately sized with a nice bathroom, but like the Le Meridien in Bangkok, it has a curious bathroom design that connects directly to the bedroom...fine if you are by yourself on business, but odd for a couple.

The hotel is modern, clean and has nice amenities. The rooms have rainfall showers, comfy beds with two types of feather pillows and French press coffee makers. The elevator has some signature soundtrack that is amusing at times and odd at others.

The gym overlooking the pool is quite nice,with a dozen or so cardio machines, new weight machines, a smith machine, and dumbbells up to 25 KG. If you want to exercise on your trip, this is a nice option.

There are a couple downsides: We had high hopes for breakfast, but were disappointed. There seem to be countless choices, but none of it tasted very good to us. And as others have noted, the coffee, like the food is served lukewarm. I got smart a couple days in and asked for a French press extra hot. They still couldn't quite get this right. I would expect that would get better with time. The hotel also has mosquitoes inside the restaurant, and many of them around the baked goods. They seem oddly stingy with towels...how about a couple extra ones folks, especially since the rainfall shower gets lots of water on the bathroom floor.

If you want a nice, clean hotel with a good gym and great location and don't mind paying a bit more than local Thai places, this is a good choice.

Had 3 nights in Chiang Mai and am very happy with the decision to take Le Meridien as my option for this trip; rooms and ameneties are perfect, clean and spacious with personnel willing to find solutions; the thai restaurant 'latest recipe' serves a very good food and i strongly recommend; prices are a bit spicy compared to the city and other locations but cheaper than in Europe; cleaning service is perfect;
Location is also very good, 20m from the Night Market and on the Loi Kroh Rd., which is Chiang Mai's replica to Bangkok's Nana, full of bars, clubs and massage centers + street food.

Concierge always helpful but not always there, sometimes you need to wait few mins; but it did not bother me at all;

I recommend taking a local taxi from the airport, negociate sth. around 150-200 Baht per car; hotel shuttle was outragious, 10 times more expensive, about 1500 Baht.

All-in-one, one of the best deals price-quality i have ever had in Asia and i strongly recommend the hotel for both business and leisure

Although some people may find fault with the hotels character we were perfectly fine calling it home for 4 nights. It is located across the street from the Night Bazaar which is a blast to walk through as well as stop for a midnight foot massage with a beer in hand for a total of 3 dollars. The hotel also has a great pool (although a bit chilly) overlooking the mountains that are north of the city. One of the reasons we really liked this hotel was that it was two blocks from the old city. You can walk anywhere from there. Did I mention we paid 63 dollars a night ?
