We stayed in a mountain view room and really enjoyed looking out our window. The room was amazing, huge washroom with separate shower stall and bathtub.
Location was super convenient right where the night market starts and a few minutes walk to the Loikroh Boxing Stadium and a bunch of restaurants and massage places.
Best of all, it's great value! You really can't get a hotel like this for the price you pay anywhere in North America or Europe.

Nice hotel with good size rooms that were well kept and clean. Great mountain views from the floor we were on. We were there for 3 days only and did not have a chance to try food from the hotel but the location is great right next to the night bazar with many places to eat and shop all right out the front door. Internet was also good at the hotel and included in the rate we had. We did not have the included breakfast so no comment about food in general at this property.

Visit Chiangmai at least 3 to 4 times a year to play golf and have stayed from 3 stars to 5 stars hotel over the years. My friend highly recommended I tried Le Meridian Chiangmai instead of Shangri-La, on par in terms of rating. I managed to secure a special rate through trip advisor and it was easy to book the stay period.

Upon check-in, was then told there's no free wi-fi in room except the main lobby, to have this service, 450baht for the night and presumably another 450baht for day time. I felt cheated, and was told if I pay for the full rate, 5500 baht per night, wi-fi will be provided. They even told me it's the same for all Le Meridian hotels.

Anyway, I brought my own rental pocket wi-fi gadget from Hong Kong and I have own wi-fi without being robbed. Will I return, no way, I go back to the Shang...

As an expat living in Chiang Mai, a regular treat are the Meridien’s Wine Dinners, where every six to eight weeks, chef Fillipo and his team match exciting wines from some of Italy’s finest producers with delicious food.

Last week’s was no exception – with the stand out dish being handmade Wild Duck Ravioli with Porcini mushrooms ragout, topped with 24 months aged Pecorino cheese and paired with a luscious Chianti Castiglioni Chianti 2010.

Given the strength of the wines we would be consuming that evening, we had decided to stay overnight, booking a delightful room on the 19th floor, with breathtaking views of the city and up to Doi Suthep.

Our luxurious room with its very stylish ensuite was the perfect place to rest our weary and sated heads on downy pillows, as well as the perfect place to wake up in, before taking an early morning swim in the hotel’s infinity pool, followed by a late breakfast in the hotel’s exclusive Club Lounge on the 20th floor.

Amazing views, free Wi-fi, Eggs Benedict, freshly squeezed juice and the hotel’s signature “Illy” coffee can be enjoyed in the Club Lounge until 11am - an hour later than buffet breakfast in the “Latest Recipe” restaurant on the ground floor - which allowed us to enjoy fully the expert service that Food and Beverages Manager, Michael Hofstetter, overseas with his impeccably trained staff team.

This is the second year that my partner and I have extolled the benefits of the Starwood Group’s “Eat, Drink and More” membership card scheme - and boy, has it been worth it, easily recouping the modest fee, enjoying discounted meals and precious memories, whilst dining in splendour with friends.

Whether you are a prospective tourist or local expat, the total Meridien experience is not to be missed - especially if you book early to ensure yourself a place at the table for one of these fantastic “Wine Dinner” events.

Affordable and very accessible luxury!

Room Tip: Book a high floor with mountain views and Club Lounge privileges - a bit more expensive, but well wo...

I have to admit I am confounded as to why SPG high-end properties do not have free internet...truly amazing!
We stayed at this property over Christmas for a week given it's tremendous location. As soon as you walk out of the place you are near everything. Room was very nice, no complaints at all. Breakfast was very good but very expensive, therefore only tried it once as you could get a great meal for 1/6th the price at most places outside, and lots to choose from. The facilities, pool and gym were very nice and we did take advantage of them being there.
If not on a budget and money no object then this hotel would be perfect for most needs.
I have to say it was cool this time of year especially at night but for us not uncomfortable at all, just surprised by the weather.
Hiccups...
1. Access card would not work many times.
2. Knocks on door to pick up laundry when not asked.
3. Had to renew internet everyday for access in the lobby.
4. Cleaning staff left their access card in room.
5. Cleaning staff left laundry in room.
6. Did not clean room one day.
7. Did not leave towels one day.
8. Constant knocking on the wall, not sure what it was or where it came from.
Much more and it seems we had some minor issue every day while we stayed here and we were not even there during the day. Just a surprise given the star rating of this hotel. Hotel felt so bad they sent up a card and some treats.
We had Christmas eve dinner I booked in advance in their restaurant which I had to admit was very good but they did not supply drinks as part of the deal, and what I mean by that is that the alcoholic drinks were not included but as well the only thing you got was two varieties of juices which you had to ask for in order to know they were included. Although the buffet variety was outstanding what we find is you can only eat so much at a buffet and therefore the value for dollar spent really is not maximized. We regretted going after the fact given the high price and would not do so again. But it was an experience, just not worth the money!
Although we enjoyed our stay for the most part and I did give this hotel a good star rating I have to admit I would be very hard pressed to stay here again. Just a lot of strange things occurring and the basics that you come to be used to from a good hotel were very costly, as well the internet access in the room for a fee is a show stopper.

Room Tip: Laundry, shopping, restaurants, market and motorbike rentals right outside the hotel...very convenie...

Stayed 4 nights. Only ate breakfast at the hotel. We were in a Club Room but ate in the main restaurant which, although quite large and busy, was very efficient with a good selection and was a pleasant experience. The room was a good standard as was the Club Lounge with Hors d'ouvres and complimentary drinks / cocktails from 6pm to 8pm. Staff were efficient and friendly. The hotel is adjacent to the night market and within walking distance of the old town.
