You are met by the friendly famous mosquito expert, who is so happy to show you various things
and speak to you of her husband's and her work. The collections are odd, eclectic, and fascinating. And you will come away with a different idea about insects, and their role in our world. We really enjoyed this museum.

This insect zoo is not particularly glossy, but it is still very well done! I loved the displays about body parts and functions, metamorphosis, binomial nomenclature and especially the hands on experiences. My children held...gently...scorpions, stick bugs and butterflies. She let a box of fully realized butterflies out in the butterfly habitat. It was beautiful! Much nicer than the shameful "monkey show".

It was exactly what we were expecting but the little obscure museum wasn't without it's charms. The first floor is comprised of odds and ends which were collected throughout the lifetime of the owner. The second floor housed a large collection of dead bugs and insects, including some rocks and fossils. Overall a good way to spend an afternoon in Chiang Mai, but probably overpriced.

I loved this museum, which as other reviewers have already mentioned is more of a private collection than a traditional museum. It's not the cheapest tourist attraction in Chiang Mai, but it does have an abundance of charm. For me the price was well worth it.

I wouldn't recommend the museum to everyone, but I would definitely recommend a stop if you have young boys in your group, if you're a person who loves the off-beat, or if you're generally interested in research and life-long obsessions. The museum owners have fascinating personal histories and I loved spending an hour getting to know a bit more about their research.

One small note, the place looks closed, but you just have to ring the bell on the side of the building.
