“Good service but it can be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2014

I booked the hotel because of review and recommendation.

Location is in the end of soi 12. it is easy to walk to main road. Nimmnad road is around with good restaurants. No problem with location

Service is excellent. all receptions are friendly and give us an excellent service.

Breakfast is excellent. there are a lot of food menus especially local food. it is also good taste.

Room can be better. I booked 2 bedroom suite. the small bathroom in master bedroom is smelly and is not funcion. shower is oppposite to toilet and no curtain. when we took a shower , toilet is wet. the bathroom door is glass. then i don't like the bathroom in master bedroom. there are ants and mosquitos in my room everyday. Mattress is too hard for me. they charge me for a tootbrush 25 Bath. I think it it was a complementary, I would impressed. You can also hear airplane's noise. because the airport is near the city.

Conclusion the best thing in the hotel is breakfast. I love local food in buffet line.

The At Pingnakorn Huaykaew Hotel is a new hotel in a very quiet side street to the north east of the moat not far from the Central Kad Suen Kaew shopping mall on the road going to Chiang Mai University and the Chiang Mai Zoo. It is not easy to find and down a narrow side street but the rooms are new and big and the bathrooms very good with large walk in showers. The food is also very good and at reasonable prices. It is a quite and restful location and the staff are very attentive and friendly. There is not in room safe and no safety boxes at reception but valuables can be stored in the hotel reception safe. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and it is good value for money although to attract more international travellers we recommend the hotel installs in room safes.

This hotel was very nice and had very nice rooms. The bathrooms were very clean. The restaurant had authentic Thai food and service. Friendly staff and English speaking. The rooms look like nice condos. Very clean and well kept. The area was out of the way of main part of Chiang Mai which was nice and less noisy.

Beautiful design in the hotel and rooms. Very clean and everything felt new and of good quality. Some staff doesn't really speak English but some is rather fluent. We unfortunately only stayed for one night in this very hip and modern area of chiang mai. I think it is a far better stay than in the center.

I walked into this hotel asking for a room and the lady at the counter greeted me with a "HUH?!" and a very annoyed look. The hotel appeared to be fully booked, so I asked her for recommendations. Again, her response was a "HUH?!". What ever happened to "sorry" and "please say again"? I walked out before she ruined the rest of my day.

I loved this hotel. Tucked at the end of a street (so quiet) but in a great neighborhood. The hotel feels like a bed and breakfast. The staff doesn't speak much English but enough to be helpful. I stayed for a week and they always greeted me and were friendly. even let m use their cl phone to call my daughter. The breakfast is a huge buffet with Thai and American food and the choices change daily. Probably 10 different dishes each day plus cereal, toast, fruit, vegetables, egs and desserts. The decor is the highlight - eclectic, interesting, a mix of antiques, modern and oddities. Colorful chandliers, peacocks painted on wall, fountains with a sculpture of 2 children, antique chest and iron rod railings, stained glass windows, little charming knock knacks. It always felt good to get home each night! The beds are hard but so are all the beds in Thailand.

Room Tip: I did not think it necessary to have the balcony and kitchen room.

I chose this hotel because of its location, it's located at the heart of the happening street of Chiangmai "Nimmanhemin". The hotel is not actually on the street which could get a little busy, but it's placed at the end of 'soi' where relax atmosphere can be enjoyed. All good restaurants and bars can be reached by walking along Nimman rd. The hotel can also call you a taxi for pick-up at the hotel.

Aside from its convenient location, the hotel itself is quite small and doesn't have big ground space. The parking space is quite limited, bicycles can be borrowed for a ride in the area too.

The room is furnished with good quality wooden furniture. The design is done with a touch art and Thai vintage style feeling quite homey and a bit of luxurious at the same time.

The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast. The variety may not seem a lot comparing with 5 stars hotel. There are Western and Thai Food, the Thai food taste is with good quality and really taste like REAL Thai cuisine. If you want to taste the real northern Thai food, the breakfast is a must.

The room I stayed was a 1 bedroom suite with separate sitting area with microwave, a few plates and kettle, a sofa and TV. The bedroom has a hugh wardrobe, DVD player with good movie selection from the library. The WFI also works well. Highly recommend for anyone, except maybe family with children as there are no ground space or swimming pool.

Room Tip: There are some bars quite near (but not that close). The room does block out the noise, but if you a...
