For the backpacker I recommended this hotel it's not too far from the city center expectantly the surprised price. You can stay in private and sharing room with your friend. if you want to stay in Chiang Mai over one week let's come to stay here. I like it.!!

The good: Grounds, price, pool.

Bad: Staff, location, breakfast

I arrived the night of a wedding and spent 30 minutes hot and sweaty with a big bag being sent to every corner of the establishment by staff. Standing by the pool amidst the wedding in my grotty clothes, someone finally told me the right place to go.

Things never got better with the staff.

Also, don't believe the other posts about always getting a room to yourself. There was indeed a girl in my room who snored very loudly and strung her clothes across the room. She was told she would have a room to herself. She was shocked to see me in bed when she came in at 3 am. I had the room reserved for days, so I wasn't a last minute arrival.

I agree with other reviews that breakfast is a competition. The selection would be OK if they put enough of it out. It's a bit of a bummer to have to elbow your way in to get a piece of fruit.

At first I was worried the Eco resort was too far away from downtown Chiang Mai - as the walk takes about 30-40 min. However a short and very cheap cab ride or tuk tuk is easy to catch and compared to other hostels downtown this is LUXURY. AMAZING pool, you won't find another hostel like this! Great service! Visit Phan (Fan) to book any activities, she is super sweet and super helpful!! A laundry mat is right across the street (and they won't lose your clothes, like other places I went to). An amazing and delicious 25 Baht pad thai stand is about 4 blocks away. Clean bathrooms too! Bring ear plugs bc bare feet on their wood floor squeaks like crazy and echos, otherwise large and clean rooms, only 1 outlet though. Met some great friends here.

My Husband stayed here two years ago and wanted to share with me. I was not disappointed and loved our week here. Although away from the center of Chiang Mai, we walked in anyway daily and sometimes twice daily. It is also close to the lovely riverside where there are many resteraunts.

The rooms are a bit noisy and please if you are staying there please be considerate about the noise, and not scrape chairs (or beds together) and have arguments as all can be heard!

We are a couple in our fifties and we really enjoyed the atmosphere of backpackers and local families all staying.

We would certainly stay again, loved the pool area, lush tropical vegetation. Help yourself to a beer and glasses in the fridge, the bells ring so they know you have taken one and then pay. Love it!

also loved the fact they sent a follow up survey to ask for feedback. The gift of feedback is soo important for Hotels and Resorts to improve. Well done Eco, we will certainly be back.

Room Tip: I am not sure if you are sleeping in the school house you should be up top or down below. We found...

If you stay here for 4 nights or more you got a discount so we essentially stayed here for £4.00 per night. The rooms were clean had good air con. Showers also clean with free shower gel. Best bit about hotel was the pool, always clean. Breakfast was good. The girls who book the tours were amazing. I recommend eco 1 day trekking and the cookery course. We would definitely come again

Absolutely loved the Eco resort. We paid 222 baht / person / night. For this price there is a small chance that you might have to share a room with someone if you are not in pairs, but apparently it's quite rare. The shared toilets and showers were fantastic - clean, airy, au natural so you felt like you were showering outside, and plenty of them.

The room itself was basic but comfortable. The beds were comfy. The air con (yup, 222 even gets you an AC) was fine. There was no where to hang wet clothes in the room but you could hang them outside.

Only small gripe was that the electric socket in our room was a bit crappy but when that's the worst thing - who cares?

The breakfast was nice and the whole atmosphere of the place was really chilled and friendly. The clothe washing was cheap (or you could wash by yourself for 50 baht) and they let us leave our bags in their lockup for a few days for free. It's less than 10 mins drive from the city centre (20 baht in a red an thing).

I wouldn't stay anywhere else next time I'm back in Chaing mai.
