The location is superb: a "new" traditional house, the Thai food is authentic and excellent and the service very friendly

took the skytrain as it was a fair old hike from the Peninsula hotel. down soi 38 its not the easiest place to find, but we were greeted warmly and led upstairs to the pleasant bar area, playing relaxing live jazz music.

we knew what we were having for dinner as we had drooled over the menu online and expected something extra special. we both went for the classic thai dishes - Mixed satays, som tam, tom yam goong, red curry & massaman curry. This is where our problems started - the waiter, (who was really over the top and in our face far too often we thought) gave us options of no spicy, medium spicy, spicy or thai spicy for our chosen dishes. Now both of us love a bit spice so we went 'spicy' on all dishes except massaman which is tradionally lightly spiced - when the food came it was only just slightly spiced - EVERY SINGLE DISH. Som Tam is supposed to pack a wicked punch, with fiery aftertaste on your tastebuds for minutes after eating it. It was drab. The Satays i must admit were by far the best we ever had, the tom yam wasn't fragnant and packed with explosive flavour lyk it should be - and came in a tiny pot bowl - foodlands version on Sukhumvit Soi 5 for a quarter of the price was a million miles better !!!. The curries were ok, at best really, nothing spectacular, nothing special at all. Spice was non existant, portions small again. My main bit of advice to the Face Bar team is to leave the food spicing as it is supposed to come traditionally, unless customers personally ask to tone the spicing down, which most westerners who visit thailand and cannot hack too much spice automatically do - they are killing classic dishes !!!

With 2 small beers for myself and a cheap lady cocktail and 1 beer for the wife - the bill came to an eye watering 3769B - pure extortion. Yes the place is beautiful, the most perfect romantic hideaway in traditional thai teak style buildings - but boy do they have to up there game on what its there for - FEEDING PEOPLE, not massaging ego's which it currently seems good at. I for one will not be returning in a hurry

We had 2 meals at Face during our 10 day stay in Bangkok. The food was simply devine, we ate from the Indian and Thai menus. Coconut rice and Pawns were a favourite. The staff were very helpful and gracious. The first night we went, we had not booked a table and the main restaurant was fully booked , so we were given a table in an area used for private parties, it was lovely. We subsequently did book a table for later in the week. The restaurant is a traditional thai wooden building and has a lovely calm atmosphere, quite the opposite from the streets outside. We were looked after very well on both visits. The food was delicious. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Made a booking for Misaki @ Face but on arrival was told that they were serving the Japanese food in the Thai restaurant....this was a little disappointing as i had previously dined in the thai restaurant and was looking forward to a new experience....anyway the food and the service did not disappoint and made for an enjoyable evening

The Face is on a small, quite street of a bustle area. The place is in a traditional, wooden building. Walking in the restaurant is like stepping in another world. You just escape the busy Bangkok and step into a relaxing place.

Thai and Japanese foods are available there. Thai food is decent and carefully prepared. Price is expensive to Bangkok standard. Overall, this is not a bad choice.
