Excellent find in a good location in Bangkok. The rooms are above average for the cost and are kept clean, with new sheets and towels every day (which you don't get in every hotel at this price). The staff were friendly and tried to help as much as possible. They were kind enough to let us use a room to shower and change the evening after we had checked out! We didn't try the food here but the breakfast (that is included in the room rate) is stanard but ok.

A nice hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. The double room we had was a little cramped and overlooked locals but it was clean and pleasant. Nice, big roof terrace with sun loungers and panoramic views. Small pool at the side of the hotel.
The location was not ideal but taxis are plentiful. Dont take one if they wont use the meter.

Let me start by saying the hotel staff really goes out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. Supat in particular is very nice and helpful. The property is absolutely beautiful... and an amazing value for the very low price. The rooms are comfortable and decorated really well. There is also a kick [-] roof deck that overlooks the city. We didn't use the pool because it was right next to reception and we felt a bit funny, but that looked nice as well.

There are a few drawbacks to be aware of... most of all it's EXTREMELY difficult to find. It's not on a road, it's on a canal. Even if you make it to the nearest intersection, someone from the hotel has to meet you on the corner and guide you in. It took us 3 hours in a cab (2 of which were spent driving around/sitting in traffic in the general vicinity) until our cab driver found it. This was after he called the hotel directly and was given directions in Thai.

We stayed in 2 different rooms and neither had a hot shower. It was the type of shower that floods the whole bathroom (and the hallway outside if you don't remove the drain plugs). I understand it's a hot country, but after sightseeing all day in the hot sun it's nice to be able to take a hot shower.

The final annoying thing was the internet. They have 5 computers, but you can't just hop on one. You have to buy time... a minimum of 30 minutes. This wouldn't be so bad if you could use 5 minutes, log out and use it again later, but I tried that 3 times and my remaining 25 minutes were gone. I don't think it's too much to ask to have free internet. It's not like most people want to spend their entire vacation on line. We stayed in a hotel 3 times the size in Phuket that had 5 free computers and I never had to wait to get on one.

One last thing. The only difference between a 'standard' and 'junior' room is the 'junior' room has a television. You're lucky to get one station in English and that's only some of the time, so if this is why you're choosing a 'junior' room don't do it.

Anyway... overall a great place! Just make sure you have a really great map so you know where to get out of the cab!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Lamphu Tree for 4 days and just loved it! Although it was a bit difficult for the taxi driver to find it (be sure to have a thai map for the driver!!!), it is located in 10 mins walking distance from Kaosan Road and Grand Palace. We booked a standard room and were not disappointed - it was decorated in a nice Thai style, was very clean and had a good, comfortable bed. It had a small bathroom with warm water shower, small balcony and functional aircon. Breakfast (toast, jam, eggs with bacon, coffee or tea, juice and fruits) was served in a open-air restaurant on the ground floor which was very charming. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Really liked to have a drink at the rooftop terrace! All over - you get an excellent value for money!

This delightful oasis has very attentive and friendly staff, excellent facilities, quiet rooms, and is well located for those who don't mind a short walk or tuk-tuk ride to the main tourist sites in the old town.

The staff really go out of their way to help, and we never had any problems communicating in English. If you have any particular requirements, such as a quiet room, a taxi to the airport, or anything else, the staff happily and reliably oblige with a smile.

As stated by others it's essential you print the map to avoid being dropped at the similarly-named Lamphu House on Rambuttri - tell the taxi driver "Wanchat Bridge" to avoid doubt!

We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!
