“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2009

- A taxi to and from the airport will cost roughly 350-400 baht including toll charges. Just make sure they put the meter on because there's some chancers. It's about 45 minutes from the airport to the hotel.

- A lot of taxi drivers don't know where it is so make sure you print off the directions which are in English and Thai from the hotels website and give them to the driver.

- Make sure you print off your booking as the hotel asks for this.

- On arrival, first impressions are, thank god its got such good air conditioning! and then that it's a really lovely reception, small but functional. Although, it may be an idea to check out just a little bit early because theres only 2-3 people on reception to check you out which can take time.

- First of all, the bell boy whisks your luggage off you and you're presented with an ice cold drink and cold towel which is a nice touch.

- After a quick check in you're then given your free wifi password (great bonus) then you're up to your room.

- We stayed twice at the hotel, our first couple of nights and our last. The first time we stayed in the superior which had a massive bed (almost too big!) which was very comfortable, lovely shower room and everything you could possibly want for in the room. Our last night, they said they had no superior rooms left so had upgraded us to what i presume is the deluxe. I wasn't as impressed. The room seemed somewhat smaller, even though the bathroom was bigger and had a big bath but was closed from view, unlike the superior which has a big window (with blind) to give the illusion of extra space. The bed seemed smaller also and the view from the window were roofs whereas we got a view of all the hustle and bustle on the street below in the superior. Anyway, the point is, save your money and go with the superior which in our opinion was better.

- On arrival we were told they had half price american buffet breakfast for 250 baht and agreed to have it. We wished we hadn't. The choices were terrible and all the food except the eggs which they prepare in front of you was cold. We also ordered room service which was just ok.

- Our first night, reception recommended a restraunt around the corner (i forget what its called) but it had lovely food. For two starters, two main meals and four drinks it cost £10.

- Our first day we were full of plans. The BTS is literally minutes away from the hotel and a day ticket costs 120 baht. To get to the Grand Palace you have to get a boat. Well, it cost a similar price but in broken Thai we were told that included was a free bus to the Grand Palace and a free guide which we thought was great. Got there, could've seen and done it in a short space of time but were kept there by this nice but difficult to get away from guide for a long time. We were then eventually told the bus was waiting for us to take us to our next destination which they'd included free as a government scheme to get people to go to this previous mansion which housed the kings and queens. After that, we were exhausted from what turned out to be a long day and from the heat, we wanted back to our hotel, only to be told that a condition of all this was to take us to a "market". We got there and it was a gem store run by the government. We were escorted by a man to the gems who tried his damndest to sell us things. After being polite as long as we could, we got the hell outta there. So, we basically got our day and plans robbed from us, don't be as polite and stick to your plans.

- On arrival back, we had arranged through the internet with a company called Loy Nava for a river cruise and we're so glad we did. It was simply great. You only book over the internet, get a prompt reply, and pay on the night. They picked us up from the hotel and brought us to the pier and we were greeted onto the boat with Thai girls in traditional dress who offered us flowers and then we were shown to our tables which was covered in nibbles. Then we were promptly given two starters! and then a buffet was laid out onto your table which could've fed 4, and to finish we had various fruit. The staff were very attentive and friendly, especially the host (didnt get where he was from) who spoke perfect English and chatted with us all individually. There was Thai music and dancing and beautiful sights. Very romantic. And at the end, we were taken back to our hotels. Perfect. Cost in all including a few drinks (which are expensive) about £30 each. Highly recommend them.

- In all, the hotel was lovely and every staff member encountered was helpful and friendly. On our last day, we didnt fly until 9pm so the hotel held our bags and allowed us to use the gym shower and free towels up on the roof where theres a nice swimming pool.

- Oh, one last thing, the smell in the hall ways, not sure exactly what it is, almost like an incense but it was quite nauseating :s

The park plaza is othe only place to stay in Bangkok. The only tip i offer is to make sure you have the address to give to the taxi driver. The hotel is in a great location, close to resturants, markets & night life. The rooms are amazing and the pool & view are fantastic. Hotel staff extremely helpful and the place is immaculate. Would have hesitation is reccommending this hotel to anybody wishing a little luxury and a very affortable price.

I loved our one night spent here recently. We were given a lovely welcome at reception which got better when we explained we were on our honeymoon. They upgraded us to a corner suite which was fantastic ,with great views of the area, opulent furnishings and probably the comfiest bed i've ever had the pleasure to spend time in. Great value for money and a good standard of buffet breakfast made this a memorable stay. However what makes this place even more special are the staff who all look like they are enjoying working there. Maybe its the wonderful scent that permeates throughout the building but whatever it is, its a pleasure to be served by smiley happy people for a change.

Very good hotel.Comfortable and clean rooms.Great breakfast included and 50% off food at lunch at dinner right now.Complimentary refreshments 24 hours a day including fine coffee.2 free internet terminals at reception.Nice staff and good levels of English spoken.
There's not much shade at the roof-top pool but that's a tiny complaint.
Overall-EXCELLENT!

We have just come back from an 8 night breakdown in Thailand. It's a beginning of the rainny season so we decided to cut short our stay at the beach and head into Bangkok for two nights. We booked last minute on expedia and got the room at the Park Plaza for only £42 / night. We were offered a deal on breakfast at check in of £5 each. It's worth it.

What can I say.........?? It was the best choice and fabulous value for money. I would recommend it to anyone.

It's a small hotel (15 floors, about 10 rooms a floor) with a restaurant and free internet in the lobby. As it is small the staff always seem to be the same which is a really nice touch in such a big bustly city. The staff were brilliant, very helpful. It is definitiely a good idea to take their recommendations for taylors, restaurants and bars. Watch out for the tut-tut drivers delivering you to their favourite taylors!!

Hotel room was beautiful. Contemporary and well decorated with modern rain forest type shower. The bed was to die for....I have never seem such a big bed with lovely bed linen and fluffy duvet. You get all the luxuries you would expect. It is incredibly comfortable.

The hotel had a fabulous roof terrace with pool and loungers, which is just perfect for chilling out after trailing around the city in the heat. There are great views from the roof, music playing and a lovely breeze! It is the perfect tonic.

In terms of location, the hotel is a couple of mins from the Asoke BTS station and taxis are so cheap it isn't worth tiring yourself out walking (Bangkok is a BIG city!!).

I'd recommend it to anyone!!
