“a great place to celebrate special occasion”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Le Normandie is a beautiful restaruant with the most amazing views of Chao Praya River. The food was excellent traditional French with good food quality and value. The staff was very attentive and professional. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice classic French meal or anyone who has a special occasion to celebrate. Be sure to ask for a table with the river view.

“Excellence in Asia”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

From arrival you know this is something special. from the awesome views over the Chao Phraya river to the excellent staff, this is a restaurant of the highest quality.

The amuse bouche were delightful: partially cooked tuna with raw ginger was amazing, as was the mushroom cappuccino.

Scallops for starter were perfectly cooked and loved the Chateaubriand.

Cheese was very good. In so many places , cheeses are served that are either too young or too old, but here they were perfect. A sign of great attention to detail.

Will definitely return on my next trip

“Good meals and great view”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

There has been very few changes at this elegant French restaurant, on the top floor of the older wing of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel by the Chao Praya River, where the ambiance, service and location is truly a Michelin star class establishment. The dress code has been relaxed a bit, but only for the diners, and at times, one wishes the management would enforce it a bit more. However, with changes in clientele, one probably has to go with the flow. The dining room looks both east towards the tourist frequented part of the city, and west over the river. The restaurant had several consultant chefs in the past, including Guy Martin, of the Grand Vefour, and Pierre Gagnaire of Pierre Gagnaire, and there was no better value for the wonderful meals served. The standard is still very good, though the flare of exquisite French cuisine under the guidance of the grand masters is gone. The portions are smaller, and the dessert table, has a bit fewer choices. None-the-less, for a prix fixe lunch of 1500 bahts all included, it is still good value for the equivalent of a 2-star environment and a 1-star meal (of the original Michelin French rating standard).

“Very good restaurant”

Very attentive service and good food.
Furthermore, in the evenings, a great pianist plays nice romantic music.
Great view, highly recommended for birthday or anniversary celebrations.
