Dined at this restaurant while travelling in Bangkok. It was nice and old school in terms of décor and ambiance. The staff were lovely Thai people. The food was good - nice burger, hot wings, and oysters. The gumbo and jambalaya were fine but not amazing (some what lacking a bit of that flavour punch expected in Cajun food). But this was a really good Cajun meal since we were in BKK not New Orleans!

The weekly Mexican buffet sounds really delicious and good value - would like to try that out next time around!

Having traveled New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Lafayette and others areas in Louisiana on business and pleasure, what a surprise to find authentic New Orleans Cajun & Creole food in Thailand. You could almost hear the jazz of New Orleans.

Let me say this, the Hurricane with 4 ounces of rum, was as good as or better than any I have had in New Orleans or Louisiana and is highly recommended. Douglas Harrison the Managing Director, at Bourbon Street also from New Orleans, confirmed that they use fresh fruit juices and not a pre-mix

I first started with the crab claws sautéed in butter and Cajun seasonings, followed with seafood gumbo, Blackened Red Fish (Paul Prudhomme's creation in New Orleans) Po’Boy sandwich combination with ½ fried shrimp ( great with the seasonings and plump and moist) with a the other half with Andouille sausage. The French bread loaf was not Leidenheimer Baking Company New Orleans bread, which none seem to duplicate, but the best I have had in Thailand, as a sandwich French bread way above good to hold the Po’Boy . I ordered the Caesar Salad, just because I had heard that it was authentic with romaine lettuce and not the lettuce mixes and drowned in an over dressed dressing. I wish the Bananas Foster had been flambéed at the table; it would have been a nice New Orleans touch.

Seeing the eggs Sardou reminded me of breakfast at Brennan's but had no more room also the homemade bread pudding with whiskey sauce, and the Pistachio cream brulee also looked just like New Orleans, or rural Louisiana.

The menu is extensive offering other types of food as well, but just the Cajun & Creole food is extensive enough to cover a week of different eating. Just a word on the gumbo, as you can eat in 200 Louisiana restaurants and have a different gumbo, like different Mexican sauces in each Mexican restaurant. At Bourbon Street they mix the okra into the roux and are not in pieces and many of the gumbos. Gumbos are a personal taste, like a wine each different.

Only two items I did not see on the menu Boudin Sausage and Beignets, both abundant in Louisiana, and part of the culture, but may have a limited taste in Thailand.

An enjoyable experience, and will look forward to returning.

Just got back from dinner with the wife.
Ordered Tomato Basil soup, Wings of Fire, Oysters and Pizza.
The Tomato soup was orange/brown colored like Chili con carne w/o the carne; the wings were the fried variety and definitely HOT and tasty. Pizza and Oysters were both good.
The drawback was the service; coldly done. Not a smile, thank you, or anything other than cordial. Even for Thai's, service was bad. Won't be coming back.

Bangkok is a very interesting and dynamic city with many wonderful places to visit or eat. You can add The Bourbon Street Restaurant & Oyster Bar to a must place to eat when here. I arrived early but by the time I left the place was full with both Thai's and "westerners" The place is very comfortable with more room upstairs for eating and visiting. The menu has almost every Cajun and Creole dish you could want and a serving size will have you very satisfied. Yes the atmosphere is very nice but you really want taste when you eat.... NO disappoint there! With each bite you will be reminded of why South Louisiana and Cajun/Creole food is so special. Delicious, friendly and comfortable.... what more could you need. I will make it a frequent stop when here! Douglas Harrison, managing director, is an excellent host! I had the shrimp eggplant pirogue ... Excellent!
