Grand Tower Inn Sathorn Hotel

This hotel is right in between the tallest sky-scrapers in Bangkok. It's obviously doomed to be demolished to make space for another sky-scraper. It's ran-down and the entrance smelled bad.
I ended up here because I was going to the "Sathorn View" which I booked by booking.com but at 6 AM when I arrived Bangkok, the Sathorn View did not answer the phone so the taxi took me to this one instead. So, be careful about the Sathorn View answering the phone, and the taxis getting the hotels mixed up!
The price was high, same as for the Sathorn View that's supposed to be a nice hotel. Paid in cash upon arrival before I could get a room.

The staff was very helpful, but every body down there is nice when they see you've got cash to pay tips.

The only reason to stay in a place like this is that if you've got nowhere else to stay.

Room Tip: Lower floors might be less noisy as construction is going on all over the place. Also, the elevator...

At 800 baht a night for a double room it is good value. There is a large comfortable bed, everything is old and worn but for a night or two while seeing the sights who cares. Food is nice and the staff are friendly however the hotel is off the beaten track and you will need a map for the taxi driver.

To the airport its 40 mins and on meter with tolls should be max 400 baht. To tourist areas taxis on meters will cost 100 baht.

My wifes family lives about 5 Km away from hotel , i prefer to stay here than at family home , A short walk to the river and a ferry ride across gives access to BTS skytrain .and also Bangrak area .

I stayed there for a weekend and find it quiet, clean, neat with pleasant staff. The front desk manager Khun Onoma was most helpful. Taxis have to be called by reception staff.

Room was adequate and good for the price.

Bit difficult to return to the hotel at night. Easy to take ferry across (3.5 baht) and to take BTS as the terminal Sathorn Taksin is 20 metres away.
