“Great location”
Reviewed December 24, 2008

We were first time visitors to Bangkok, but I took advice from work colleagues(who visit regularly) as to a good location for tourists and they suggested here. It's located ~300m from a SkyTrain (BTS)station which is very useful for tourists - head south to the river and you can get an express ferry into the old city where many of the daytime tourist attractions are located. Also Chatuchak market was accessible via BTS by heading north. Night spots were close by, such as Patpong(one stop away on BTS) or Suan Lum (a short TukTuk or taxi ride).

Hotel rooms were clean, modern and spacious, although note ours did not have a bath ( just a shower) so bear that in mind if you have a preference. We went B&B, and the breakfast was ample.

The hotel ticked all the boxes for us for a city centre hotel - great location, clean rooms etc. We find that we don't spend that much time in hotels when we visit cities, so paying for added luxury is unnessary and the business type approach of this hotel was ideal. We went on to Phuket, where we naturally spent much more time in the hotel , so we wanted and paid more for extra service and luxury.

It has a retro feel and is decorated with bright fabrics. I found the hotel comfortable and the staff welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are large and have extra walking room, a bit unusual in an urban hotel. It is also on a quiet side street so is very quiet but still very central such that you can walk in 10 minutes to CentralWorld.

My biggest complaint is that the beds are hard. It is an extra firm mattress with a nominal mattress pad, not as much as my spoiled American body would like. The shade in the bathroom is a bit odd but didn’t find it a problem.

We used points from the Marriott Rewards program. Breakfast was not included and cost a whopping $15 when you pay for it separately.

We were here a few days in August and this hotel was above our expectations.
This contemporary style hotel is new, trendy with interior full of color.
The room was beautiful and modern, with king – size bed; clean and lovely bathroom with luxury amenities.
Breakfast was very good.
The hotel is centrally located, in a quiet street but a short distance from shops, restaurants, SkyTrain and Siam Square.
In my opinion great value for money.

Great Hotel - location was great, close to rail and walking distances to a lot of markets and shopping centres. Hotel was very quiet which is something I find hard to come by. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel from 12-15th November 08 and from the moment we got there we were not dissapointed. The checkin process was smooth and efficent, the room was above our expectations as it was large had plenty of room to move, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a massive walk in shower with a seat.

The view was not great it was of the front of the hotel but not a problem for us. We heard no noise at all.

The breakfast was brilliant something for everyone - noone can complain about it by any means, room service was very efficent and perfect for when you are tierd from walking around the city.

The pool was clean and well kept nice size to be able to do some exercise in. We did not use the gym but went and had a look and it looked very clean and modern.

I had a treatment at the mood treatment rooms and the service again impecable and a well priced.

We did not like Bangkok too much and so the hotel was a great Oasis to come back to when we had, had enough being out and about.

Nothing was too much for the staff to do including rushing our laundry through.

The hotel is in a great location close to everything, so we would fully reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants to brave Bangkok as it is easy to get to and about 5 mins walk from the main shopping strip.

I've stayed at several Marriott Courtyard hotels, and this is the nicest one yet. This hotel opened only a few months ago, so it has that nice new feel to it and everything is spotless. However, your cabbie may have trouble finding it - no problem, just tell him it's near the Four Seasons Hotel. Also, due to the recent unrest in Bangkok, don't be surprised if your taxi gets stopped before entering the property, to be searched. "They check for bomb!" our cabbie laughed as we waited. Hey, better safe than sorry!

Although my husband and I only stayed here for one night, the hotel allowed us to leave some of our extra baggage there for a week as we initially passed through Bangkok on our way to Koh Tao before returning to the Courtyard for our one night stay.

The staff were spectacular - you feel like royalty from the moment you walk in. Thais are very gracious and it makes you realize you really ARE in the land of smiles! When we had a problem - the shower wasn't draining - it was remedied promptly by their staff even though it was late in the evening.

The location was OK - it was at the end of a side street, a short walk to the Sky Train station (or you could use the complimentary shuttle) and about a 15 minute stroll to Lumphini Park which is a nice place to relax or feed the huge fish that live in the pond. The night market is also in that area. Everywhere else, you'll probably want to take a cab, which the doorman will take care of for you. Be warned that the hotel is about a 45-minute ride to/from the airport in good conditions, and it will cost you about 400-450 Baht including tolls.

Our room was very nice. After a week in Koh Tao, we were very grateful for the air conditioning and the strong water pressure in our hot shower. The only weird thing about the room was that there was a "window" between the bathroom and the bedroom, which looked directly in to the glass-walled shower from the bed. And, the blinds to obscure the view were located on the bedroom side of the window. So if you're sharing a room with somebody, make sure you don't mind if they play peek-a-boo with you while you're in the bathroom! My husband was also quick to point out that this "window" allows you to watch TV from the toilet...

The bed was extremely comfortable, with crisp linens and lots of pillow choices. You could also turn off most lights from the switches on either side of the bed, although it took us some trial and error to figure them all out! The HDTV was a nice touch and allowed us to get caught up on world news after a week of isolation. Many of the popular news and TV channels were available - BBC, CNN, HBO, etc. plus some local programming which is always fun to watch.

Hubby and I went to the in-house restaurant, MoMo, twice. They offered a variety of Thai and Western dishes - we highly recommend the MoMo burger as well as their fruit smoothies. Although significantly more expensive than the locally-run restaurants and "street meat" vendors, the prices were on par with Western establishments and the service was top-notch.

Free internet access is available in each room (if you have a laptop), or you can use the Business Center computers but their rates were outrageous - you will most certainly find better rates at an internet cafe in the city.

This hotel exceeded our expectations and if we ever pass through Bangkok again, we'd gladly return!
