Siam Niramit is a great cultural show that takes place inside Bangkok's little model city. You can walk around the mock city either before or after the show. They have free samples of many of the Thai traditional snacks (like coconut cakes, yum!!!). They also sell many Thai hand crafts, which you can also find much cheaper in Chatujak.
The show is a great value, relatively cheap when compared to any Vegas style show. They will have you take a "souvenir picture" before the show, which you can purchase for a few hundred baht after the show. It is very loud inside. The show itself is MOSTLY kid friendly, but there is one section where they are depicting hell and what the punishment is for various sins. Wow, I was glad we left the kids at home! Let's just say, if you want to scare you kids, then this might be an artistic way to do it.
My only complaint is that the food (we purchased the buffet dinner) was absolutely horrible. Yuck, I am not sure much of it should be served for human consumption. There are so many good food choices, but I was worried about traffic so we opted for the buffet. Bad mistake. Okay, I guess I have one other complaint. The extra performances they offer in the cultural city are super loud. The drums and the speakers are so loud, earplugs would have been beneficial.
