This is a beautiful small hotel that goes the extra mile in terms of making our stay a memorable one. OK the views are not all the same but rooms are very clean, very comfortable and have extra touches such as lavender scented toiletries including body lotion. The hotel is well located for river trips and for seeing the Grand Palace and surrounding complex. There are some good restaurants within walking distance. The Aurum river hotel hotel stands out in the friendliness, helpfulness and caring of the staff.

Room Tip: best room is on the top floor with river view

Me, my wife and son stayed at Aurum at the end of September for 3 nights and found the hotel to be ideal for our purposes. River view and feel was excellent (although the ugly building in front can be irritating - you just have to ignore it). Being close to the river taxis for transport to any part of Bangkok via Skytrain was a pleasant way of exploring. Taxis were never difficult to get and the hotel staff went out of their way to help with everything. Always friendly and helpfull. Perfect service. Stunning Thai breakfasts.

Jin amazed us by helping to change our plans when the floods blocked railway lines that we intended to use to go up north. She made calls to enquire about conditions where we were heading and even booked the flights for us and reserved seats with maximum legroom etc. Amazing ! We will definitely be back and stay nowhere else. All thanks to Jin and her staff.

Room Tip: Room 401 or the ones below it has the best views. Try avoiding rooms facing the wrong way or into the building in front.

I stayed at the Aurum for 2 nights. I am putting a fairly low ranking only to highlight a couple of points that i think would be important for guests to know prior to booking here. First of all, the hotel is exceptionally clean and the staff are helpful (apart from limited English skills). The rooms are very nice, but a bit smaller that you would expect based on the website photos. I was travelling alone and this wasn't a big deal, but two people with luggage would notice the lack of space.

Most importantly, there were three things that need to be noted.
1. Internet WIFI did not work in the room, other guests i spoke to also commented on this. It worked fine in the lobby, but not in the room.
2. The view, There is a view to the river but most of it is blocked by a building in front of you. If your goal is to relax and take in the scenes of river life, you will be dissapointed.
3. The hotel is situated down a dark, dirty street (more like an alley), and there is very limited commercial activity in this area at night. It is hard for taxis to find and might be a little unsettling to walk around this area at night.

i would like to stress again, my stay was comfortable and the quality and cleanliness of the hotel were excellent, but this low ranking is meant to illustrate the important points above.

The location is great for sightseeing, the rooms are immaculate, the staff friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very tasty and the bar fridge well stocked. The hotel is on the river with easy access to river taxis which also connect to the Sky train downstream. Taxis and tuk tuk's are also freely available nearby. Rarely do you find a gem like this in a big city. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we will definitely be staying there again.

The location is fantastic, this boutique hotel is tucked away at the end of a lane that fronts onto the Chao Praya river. You can walk to many of the historical sights: the Reclining Buddha (Wat Po) - 5 mins, The Grand Palace - 10 minutes, Tha Tien Pier - 10 minutes. From Tha Tien Pier you can catch the public ferry up and down the river for 17 baht, there are direct ferries across the Chao Praya to Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) and you can also hire a long boat for a private tour (1000 -1200 baht for an hour).
The owner Gin, manager Assnee and the staff are fantastic. They are all helpful, friendly and make you feel very welcome. We stayed for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are super clean, nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. We had room 401 which is a good size and has great views of the Chao Praya. Breakfast is good, you can choose a English or Thai style breakfast which is accompanied with fresh fruit and is served in a pretty garden when the weather is fine or in the beautiful foyer on rainy days.
The surrounding streets and markets are very interesting and have an authentic feel ( the markets are not filled with the usual knock off watches and polo shirts). Don't miss the flower markets, they are a 5 minute walk. Apparently these are most lively at night and into the morning - we went about 11pm.
I highly recommend eating at:
The Deck: A little pricy but great food, make a booking as it can be very busy and the best tables come with views across the river to the Temple of the Dawn.
Coconut Palm: This is a great little cafe, delicious light meals and cheap. Highly recommend!
Both of these restaurants are a very short walk around the corner from Aurum.
We would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
