“Good budget hotel”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

good location, some of the staff are friendly....very budgeted hotel with reasonable price...rooms are not that great...moden decor but not very clean and have weird smell which is probably coming from carpet, i could see spider web on ceiling... rooms are very small in size...if you want good location with reasonable budget then this hotel is good choice, but if you want good clean big rooms then this hotel is not for you....

Dear Sohailarif,

Thanks very much for your feedback.

I am surprised to hear that the room you stayed in was not up to our cleanliness standards and had a foul smell. May I kindly ask what room number you stayed in?

I hope you will give us a chance during your next visit to Bangkok to show you that what you experienced is not common practice in our hotel.

Kind regards,
Jonathan

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. If you would like to stay close to the big shopping centres, then this is a perfect location. It's across the street from the MKB shops, so takes about 5 mins walking from the hotel door. Then from there you can cross over the walk ways to the other big shopping centres. The hotel itself is clean and tidy. The service is terrible. The lobby and the reception are on different floors. Seems like it woulnd't be an issue, but every time we needed to ask them something, they directed us to the other location. None of the staff speak very good english, so I would recommend not asking for advice for dinner locations. We did this on our first night and ended up somewhere really awful.
The lifts are really slow, there are only 2, and you have to wait a fair while in peak times. But this is really being picky. The pool area is nice - pool is freezing, and there aren't many sun loungers, but on the whole the pool over looks the city, so it's a good viewing point. Drinks by the pool are 10 times the price what you would pay on the street. £3 for a soft drink. The roof top bar is actually quite nice, so it's worth going there for one drink during your stay.
The rooms are spacious, clean and tidy. The bed is fairly hard, but was ok. the gym was pretty good too.
When we left, they told us we had a check out time of 12noon, we then challenged this as our travel agent had booked a late check out, as our flights were at midnight. So they extended the check out to 12.30pm. Anyway, we then checked out that afternoon, and the concierge told us that we had the room until we left. So basically we paid for 2 nights, and got that 3rd night free. Overall great news, but honestly couldn't they have told us this when we requested a later check out? it was totally weird, but I put it down to the language barrier. So on the whole a good result, but really could they not have told us this on check in?????
On the whole I would rate the hotel a 7 out of 10, and the service a 3.

Room Tip: I would say the lower the room on the levels, the less time you would spend waiting for the lift...

Dear Rteam,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel.

I sincerely apologize that the service levels wasn't up to your standards. Sometimes the language barrier can lead to some misunderstandings, but isn't this part of the charm of Thailand?

I'm glad we were able to accommodate you for the entire day while waiting for your flight and sorry that the process wasn't handled correctly.

I hope that you will give us another chance to prove to you that we strive to increase our service levels during your next stay in Bangkok.

Kind regards,
Jonathan

pool was fabulous, the staff were friendly leaning staff very helpful bit disappointed in the lack of information we were overcharged fro a trip to the floating market and the hotel did not seem to care. Waited ages fro our luggage at end of stay and the meals were overpriced however there were lots of good cheap eats very nearby. We had to find these ourselves as the staff did not seem to understand what we wanted. Would I stay there again probably not but then again I hated MBK and it is only a hop skip and jump away

Lovely modern hotel with some quirkly features - not traditional thai but nevertheless a unique experience that we loved...good location and great buffet breakfasts and a nice pool. Very happy to stay here again and it was a little different in a good way!!

Dear Paula,

I'm very thrilled to read that you enjoyed our "different" hotel. We are indeed a bit quirky and we proud ourselves on that fact!

If you enjoyed your stay here, I really recommend you try our sister property in Pattaya, which will open its doors in late November. You will not be disappointing, we're taking things to a whole new level!

I hope to welcome you again soon in one of our Siam@Siam properties.

My husband & I stayed here for 3 nights in May on our way to Koh Samui. The room was very clean & spacious, the toiletries etc supplied were nice to use. A clock in the room would be handy, the rest of the decor was good. The bath is a great size - my husband enjoyed his soak in it but it is very deep (& the shower is over it) & could be difficult to access for anyone with leg problems. Breakfast had a good variety of foods, you would have to be fussy not to be able to find something to eat here. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant one night - was a great view & the meal was nice but was quite pricey. The location was great, close to MBK & other shopping centres & to the train - easy to walk to considering the heat in Bangkok. We went by taxi to the Grand Palace - cost us 70 baht, but be careful coming back by taxi - they will rip you off if they can. We were quoted prices between 100 & 250 baht so just keep walking up the line of taxis until you find one who is reasonable. Ours accepted our offer of 100 baht then had a sook on arrival at the hotel - wanted 150 baht - we just walked off after paying him the agreed price of 100 baht. If I ever went back to Bangkok I would quite happily stay here again.

Dear Lynette,

Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your experience with us. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with the Siam@Siam Design Hotel!

I took note of your comment about the clock and will address it.

Good on you for not giving in to the taxi driver! They are very stubborn sometimes and one should always insist they turn on the meter; if they won't, just ask the next one :)

Hope to welcome you in Bangkok again soon.

We stayed two nights on our way to London on the recommendation of our travel agent. What a find in so many ways. Fantastic central location right next to the Sky Train, surrounded by major shopping centres and easy access to everything.

But apart from these bonuses the hotel was an absolute treat. The decor is very funky and each time you looked you discovered another aspect of the vey thoughtful design.

The swimming pool is a definite winner as is the rooftop bar, particularly by night.

The rooms are good fun with lots of interesting quirks while providing everything needed for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

My only suggestion is that management look at the closing time of the pool in the evening. It was closing at 1900 when we were there which provided no time to return from a full day of exploring and luxuriate in the coolness and tranquility of the water.

We will certainly return on our next visit to Bangkok.

Dear Wendy,

I'd like to take a moment to thank you for your positive review and your feedback.

I'm very happy that you enjoyed the decor of our hotel. The interior design is indeed very special and there are pieces of art everywhere you look! During your next visit, you should definetely pay a visit to our sister property in Pattaya, which will open its door in late November, we're bringing the quirkiness one step further ;o)

I took note of your comment about the pool's closing time and will see to ensure that it stays open past 19:00 in order to allow for tireless city dwellers like you plenty of time to relax after a long (and hot!) day out.

I wish you a safe onward journey to London and look forward to welcoming you in one of our properties soon.

The Siam@Siam was a wonderful retreat after a busy day in this busy city with an interesting modern westernsed decor; our favorite spot (apart from my bed that had sweeping views of Bangkok) was the roof top bar where we relaxed planning our next day while enjoying a drink and 360 degree views of the city. The restaurant one floor down is also worth a visit. The ground floor restaurant for breakfast was perfectly located for an early morning start.

The staff were great in typical Thai fashion, and while location was not important to us, the city rail was just down the road at the MBK and there were no shortage of taxis and took-took drivers willing to take you for a ride ;)
