“Faded hotel has seen better days”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

Picked this hotel for convenience of location (which turned out to be justified)
Good reception on arrival and attentive service throughout our stay
Found our room a bit dowdy but clean and comfortable although sheets had holes in them
Bathroom flooded when showering and aircon noisy and leaking water
Breakfast very basic but free coffee and fruit juice available 24/7
Never did find the advertised shuttle bus

Arrived on pre-booked rooms. However check-in was delayed till later. As they rush to make up our rooms. The floor was still sticky when we checked in. The mattress was horribly out of form and could be replaced. Lighting in this hotel is terrible but u have free wifi at least. The guy at the door can come in pretty handy if u need directions or transport arrangements

Bottom line is the location is alright and the staff is ok,but if you have an alternative choice of hotel better go for it.

Stayed here for 5 nights, found the location to be excellent, the rooms big and the bed comfy. The staff where really great and told us how to get to certain markets by sky train rather then taxi because it was half the price, all so helpful and very nice. The cleanliness was average, but it is in the heart of Bangkok so it was never going to be the best for such the low price that it was. Excellent, I would stay there again.

Dirty dingy hotel. When we asked them to clean our Grand Deluxe room - they thought we were crazy. We were pre booked for 7 nights - and it was hell . My asthma was bad from the thick layer of dust. The shuttle bus does not exist - even though it was a highlight of there famous ads.The staff were cheeky and impolite. We went to a much better boutique hotel , it was cheaper too....

hai! I'm from Belgium and I went to Cambodia with an quick stop in Bangkok. We didn't book anything we just went and search for a place. We were with five and traveld at low cost! One night we spent in the Diamond hotel and it was very good. They have like the biggest beds ever! sow if you want to travel at low kost just book one room with two beds and you can sleep there at least with 5-6 persons! The people are very nice and will help you te get tuktuks or taxi's. be a were that you can get discouting in the price if you have the skills. The room and shower is very clean but a bit small. If you are an hotel person or with a famillie you maybe won't like it. If you are an travel person and spent your time outside it's one of the best hotels for 16 dollar/person (if you sleep with 5 in an 4 mans bedroom)

Good location in Siam - many 7Elevens in the street good, foodcatrs etc10 min walk to MBK, Paragon etc- this though is probably the only plus for the hotel. Other reviews noted it's in a deserted road - not true it simply is a standard back street in Bangkok that is gritty but we felt safe enough. Interior decorating is horrible, overstuffed rooms with too much old furniture - someone needs to update from the 90's! Feels generally a little grubby with low lighting all through the hotel, lack of fresh air and natural light, carpet feels it hasn't had a good clean in ages. The sign on the front desk noting "If you intent to bring Lady to your room you have to pay extra" was a bit of a turn off! The pool is NOT a pool - it is a large spa in the loby that I wouldn't imagine anyone would feel comfortable going in as you are litteraly 15 meters from the street...Despite this the staff were friendly enough and upgraded us when I asked for a better room that didn't smell of smoke and general musty-ness - after saying no to toilet spray to take the smell away! By all means the hotel is functional and bearable but given Bangkok's other options I wouldn't see any need to stay here! The hotel photos are NOT a true reflection at all!

Room Tip: Don't get a room near the elevator as it "pings" all night as the hotel is 24hr access...

The staff were terrific but the accomodation was extremely dated and dusty. The first room I was taken to (which was supposed to be a superior room) was small and dingy, it had a bathroom as big as a wardrobe, no wardrobe, the curtains were hanging by three hooks. The room was just dreadful. I called reception immediately and asked for my money back as I would prefer to go elsewhere. They moved me to another room which was larger and did have a bathroom and a very small wardrobe. The room was very old and in need of renovation, I don't think it had been dusted for at least 6 months. The airconditioning only had one setting which was freezing so I turned it on and off regularly. Look if you want something cheap and don't expect much then this should be okay for you but I will not stay there again. On the positive side
the staff were very friendly and tried hard to meet your requests. Definately for Backpackers! I also found out that they charge different prices depending on what Country you are from.

Also it wasn't as close to the BTS and MBK as quoted.

Room Tip: I would go for the Grande Deluxe if you must stay there.
