Lamphu House is situated few kilometers from Bangkok City Centre. You'll need a cab or bus or tuk tuk to get there. But for nightlife & everything else, Lamphu House area is a one stop point with massage parlours, beauty parlours, shops, restaurants, pubs, & even a dental clinic there! Its a cool & happening place! Comfortable Guesthouse, Worth it for money as well!

We stayed here for 1 night after travelling around Cambodia for 3 weeks, we ideally wanted 2 nights but they were fully booked the night after.
We found the receptionist and staff very helpful and friendly. However, compared to other places we have stayed in for a similar price, this was of a slightly lower standard. It was relatively clean but exceptionally basic.
It is in a great location, was easy to walk to many places of interest, yet was also very quiet, which was great.
In all we wouldn't really stay here again. We have stayed at U Place before and loved it, it is further away from places like Ko San Rd, but the quality of accomodation at U Place is better and it has a pool.

Solo traveller once again. I have been here one week and plan to stay two more weeks. The guesthouse is nestled in garden off a prime location on rambuttri street, very quiet, very clean, very friendly, restaurant, free wifi, right next door a seven eleven store and money changer, no problem going out at night, lots to see and do, and feels very safe, I recommend this place. It takes only cash and must prepay nightly otherwise you don't get a room at the inn. It is always full here.

Room tip: I would suggest the ac room as controller is adustable and works very well, the extra comfort is well worth the money, the rooms with shared bathroom, are ok as the bathrooms are very clean

Please reiterate with the taxi driver that you're going to Lamphu House and not the other one with almost the same name...Lamphu Tree House. Those hotels are far from each other. So when you are to be dropped at the wrong hotel, you'll have to walk for almost 30 mins. to get to the right one. This hotel is located not exactly in the main street. It has it's own alley so it's quiter than those lined in busy streets. The reception is straight forward, pay your deposit then you get your key. They don't bother to smile to greet their (tired) guests (like us). But it's ok. We don't need their smile anyway. We need a room that's nice, clean and cozy. And they have that. Our room has 2 beds (queen-sized bed). It has a terrace. We ate at their resto. The food were good but a bit pricey. Since it's past mid-noon when we arrived, food prices did not matter to us anymore. But try to eat outside..there are a lot of food stalls especially in Khao San Road which is only 5 mins. walk from here.

We stayed in Lamphu house for 2 nights on 1st & 2nd of Jan 2013, and liked it so much we booked another night when we returned to bangkok from traveling around. We shared a twin fan room with a shared bathroom, as simple as you can get and it was worth the cheap price. The rooms have comfy beds and you're given a sheet and a towel. The shared bathrooms are clean, the water in the showers is not always hot though.
The restaurant had great food for a cheap price.
The location is great, perfect distance from Khao San Rd and the busy loud streets. Would definitely recommend to people looking for a cheap, simple stay.
