To be fair to this hotel, we arrived on the eve of the King's Birthday celebrations so the streets were heaving with people from out of town. However, we arrived after a long journey from the south to be greeted by two miserable reception staff, unsmiling, very unfriendly and despite me being heavily laden with backpacks they asked me for the passports three times in about a minute! This was a tad irritating as they could see I was getting them out!
We were given a second floor, noisy room across from the stalls outside so we couldn't open the curtains day or night as people were looking straight in. There were no nets or anything so if you opened them then there was no privacy at all.
The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was nice but the hotel is clearly a budget place which is only really a base and not somewhere you could get your feet under the table.
We read on reception that with half an hour notice the staff could get you a meter taxi to the airport but when we asked they said that they could not do this, despite the sign, so they called one for us costing 400baht to our airport hotel. A bit pricey?!
This hotel is OK for a cheap place to stay in Bangkok, for one night, but definitely not cheerful. Having stayed in the Lamphu Tree House Hotel a fortnight previously, we had probably been a bit spoilt but I suppose this is reflected in the price.
In a dodgy area with noisy rooms, if it is Khao San Road you want to be near to, you are better off booking one down there instead.
