I stayed for 1 week. The hotel is on one of the worst blocks in the area; just by crossing the street and going east, west or south you are in far better territory. At night, the steps of the 7-Eleven become a hangout for guys drinking beer. While none of this felt "dangerous" it was terribly depressing. I read in earlier reviews there was a security guard at the entrance; looks like they've let him go. The breakfast buffet consists of fruit, toast, jams, and one noodle and veg dish ( on 2 mornings it was inedible, and certainly not "authentic" Thai by any stretch of the imagination), "mystery meat" sausage (but this is typical in SE Asia), and fairly good eggs offered 4 different ways. The rooms were very clean and the cleaning staff nice, but two days in a row forgot to clean my room. It really felt like the Boonsiri had just given up, which is unfortunate for them, but anyone considering this hotel should weigh up all of the reviews.

Recently stayed at Boonisiri in July for 4 nights. The hotel itself is of average price range for the amenities offered-free internet (slow), free breakfast, and fairly clean rooms. Our taxi driver had difficulty getting there when we first arrived at night from the airport, and my bf and I were a little shocked/worried by the number of street hookers in our area. Boonsiri is located almost in a little nook off the bigger streets (a short walk after you find yourself more familiar with the area). Contrary to the previous reviews, we did not find Boonsiri staff very helpful but we agree that they are very very friendly. On the nights that we stayed, we had staff who were very limited with their English. As a result, getting "local" advice on street eats, best way to travel to...etc., wasn't quite clear as compared to other hotels we've stayed at during our travel. Night time sleeps were noisy for us as well. It felt that street stalls did not close well into the wee hours of the morning, then you have dogs barking, and stalls set up around 5am all over again. All in all, it was an average place... couldn't complain too much for the price that we paid for :).

A basic but clean hotel centrally located. It is not cheap but not expensive as it is close to Wat Phra Keaw, Wat Po, Wat Arun and the "infamous" Backpacker street Khao San Road, free WIFI and Breakfast included. (we booked deluxe rooms) Nothing for families with children as the area seems to be known for street hookers attending to Thai customers (much to my surprise upon arrival at 3 PM being approached by some working women)
The hotel staff is friendly but reserved. Breakfast is included but very limited (toast, jam, coffee, tea, water and Juice. you can get some fried eggs on request, but that is about it, no ham and cheese omelet..)
Although we asked about parking at the hotel and having been told that is was available, the parking was in the street and we had the move the car to the other side of the street every day as the street side parking is daily changing,
There is a Seven Eleven on the corner next to the hotel and thai soup stall also.

We stayed at the hotel 3 nights (25-28 Jun 2012). The staff is very friendly and useful. The price is great considering that we stayed in another hotel in bangkok that for the same price didn't offer the breakfast and the wifi!
This one does and both breakfast and wifi are ok!
The neighbourhood seems quite unsafe by night and it was quite difficult to find a taxi driver who knew how to get to the hotel, but this is not the hotel's fault.
The room was really nice, quiet and clean so for sure I would go there again if I will ever go back to Bangkok!

I stayed in this hotel during 4 nights (June 27-July1). I found the good reviews here in trip advisor and then booked thru Expedia (total prepaid no cancellation allowed was US$128 with breakfast included.

Boonsiri Place Hotel
55 Buranasat Road, San Chaophosue
Pranakorn, Bangkok Thailand 10200

Positives:
-At ~US$ 32 per night including breakfast I thought it was a good value.
-Located at old town, therefore easy to Walk to major sites ~15min walking to grand palace, the temple of the emerald buddha, and the dock area to get to the dawn temple (amazing), also to the museums (but i didn thave time to go there)
-Free wireless that worked great.
-super clean bathroom/bed/
-Comfortable bed. See pictures. I had room 507 (fifth floor) and slept very well every night. no noise.
-Good breakfast. Selection of fruits, selection of Thai speciality (never tried it) and eggs as ordered (I ordered every day an omelette and it was very good), bread, milk, juices, etc.
-Friendly and helpful staff. Their english was not the best, but in general in all of Bangkok that was my feeling, they wanted to help you and helped you as much as possible, but English is a limitation (too bad I dont speak Thai!).

Neutral:
-Shower is very strange. No curtain, it is built in a slope so it drains....still very strange, look at pictures. It didnt deter me from considering it a good hotel.
-Not the best area to eat. I had to walk at least 20 min during my first 2 evenings to find a place to eat. I found some local places with good food but....hum....not the best looking locales.
-As other reviewers mentioned, around the area there is prostitution (ladies just sitting/standing waiting) but I never felt unsafe. I walked around 9:30pm as a solo female traveler and never had any issues. There is security permanently outside of the hotel doors.

Tips:
-After I finish touring, I will get a tuk-tuk (200 bath) that wil leave me at the "National Stadium" skyline metro stop, is the same one where the mega shopping mall MBK is located, and also 5 min walk to the Jim Thompson House (which is beautiful and do not miss it.) Traffic in Bangkok is not the best, so I always tried to go at certain hours and return to the hotel by 9pm.
-I made the mistake of getting a taxi from the airport BKK to the hotel. Due to traffic (and it was like 8am on a Wednesday) i ended up paying 1000 bath plus the tolls (~100 bath?). Very expensive! Save yourself money and get the Skyline metro to the stop Pa-Ya Thai. From there get a taxi to the hotel. I did this on my return flight(took a taxi from hotel (meter said 55, I gave the taxi driver 100 bath) and the ticket on the skyline express was ~90 bath? super efficient 25 min and I was at the terminal.

Overall, I will recommend if you want to be close to the old town...but next time, I might stay at a hotel closer to the Skyline metro stops.
