“good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2008

We found Boonsiri Place to be a surprisingly attractive hotel for the price we paid (around 20 pounds a night). The room was large and well air conditioned with nice touches like an oil painting above the bed. It was a relief to come back each night and relax after being around hectic Bangkok all day.
The bed itself was massive, especially compared to the standards of other Asian hotels 'double' beds. I found it to be comfortably firm.
The bathroom was fine, we just had a shower but I think you can pay more for a bath.
Breakfast was good - a mini-buffet consisting of toast, eggs, sausage and salad. Pretty simple but you can't expect much more for the price of the hotel. Breakfast staff were lovely and friendly.
I didn't have any problems with the desk staff but they could probably be a bit more friendly.

  • Liked — Massive bed and pretty room
  • Disliked — Location was fine for Khao San but not much else - hard to find for taxis too

We paid about US$30 for a standard room here via Laterooms.com. I think this is worth it. I like the hotel facade. The room is quite big, clean, but basic. Not much complaints and praise. The breakfast was alright.

The location wasnt really that great or bad. There's no BTS station nearby. I think the nearest is National Museum (or Stadium? I forgot).
The immediate vicinity doesnt really look very comfy. But there's a 7-11 next to it tho'. The hotel is located in the old part of BKK called Rattanakosin. It is about 15 minutes to the Grand Palace, and a park (forgot the name). The were also other nice looking temples nearby. On the other side is Khao San road, which is about 15 minutes walk too. Chao Phraya river isnt too far from here. About 20 walk.

That said, i find that $30 for this accomocation as good value.

Quiet but still in the heart of Bangkok, good quality and spacy rooms, not expensive, internet access, what else do you want?

  • Liked — big clean modern rooms
  • Disliked — no wireless yet. Something for the future may be?

This hotel was a great find. Conveniently close to the Kao San Road without being on it and within easy walking distance to the Palace. Train and bus stations were about 20 mins away by cab.
The rooms were cool and big enough with comfy beds and the bathrooms clean and in very good condition.
Internet access is good too.
The hotel will store your luggage if you are away on shorter trips out of Bangkok for 30 baht/day.
It can be tricky for some taxi drivers to find this hotel so it might help to print a map or have it written in Thai characters when arriving from the airport for the first time.

I booked this hotel through Agoda.com (it was $35 a night, including tax and breakfast, which is cheaper than if you go directly through the hotel), after reading positive reviews for it on TripAdvisor.

I wasn't expecting much, and the room overall was ok, but the service was not great. The front desk people were not friendly, and if you asked for something they basically just ignore you until you go away (like, for example, directions --they just said "there's a map in the elevator" and that was it, or a receipt for staying there, which they won't give you). The restaurant people were nice however.

My cab driver took 15 minutes driving around trying to find the place. The directions that the have on the website (and what you're supposed to tell your driver), and completely unhelpful. The road is spelled Bun Siri, not Boonsiri. It would help if they'd post directions in Thai that you could print out...

The room was ok. It was clean and had AC. The shower is British style, in the bathroom, but it works. The bed was extremely hard, as were the pillows. Like rocks. Breakfast was ok, eggs, lardons, and toast and fruit, good strong coffee, OJ, and the restaurant that it's served in is nice, with big doors that open to the street (which is a back street, with lots of people on it, a bit sketchy).

The location is ok if you want to see the Grand Palace and Wat Pho and some of the other main attractions, and is walking distance to these. However, it is nowhere near the skytrain, so it's a pain to get anywhere else (and taxis are difficult, as 1. the traffic is horrendous, and 2. they can't find the place on your way back.)

Overall, it was ok. They charge you 30 bht for 30 minutes of internet access, on their computers, and it is practically dial up service.

The hotel was very central for all our needs. As we were only in Bangkok for 24hrs we needed somewhere that was very close to the Grand Palace and the Khao San Road, which this was. It was not in the nicest part of town but overall our experience was a good one. Would stay there again.

I stayed at the hotel last May and am only getting around suubmitting my review now! I travelled to Bangkok from Australia on the homeward leg of a round-the-world trip this year. I must admit I was a little anxious about where I stayed as I was only staying in Bangkok for a few days in order to go to other destinations in Asia. I was travelling alone at the time and like everyone had heard all the stories about Bangkok's seedier side- which I really wanted to avoid!! I also wanted to stay somewhere comdortable and clean- as a result I was very happy with the Boonsiri.

I actually stayed there twice over 3 weeks and i found it great. The rooms were absolutely spotless, air-conditioned which was bliss and very well appointed. Though it is a little tricky to find at first, the reception desk hand out cards with a little map showing its location which you can just hand to a taxi driver. The neighbour wasn't exactly beautiful but I never felt concerned or worried for my safety at all. Its about a 10 minute walk to the Khao San road- so again it really depends what you want to do in Bangkok. From my point of view, it was far enough away from the tackiness of the Khao San road.

As I was using Bangkok as a base for a few trips around South East Asia , I also appreciated being able to leave some of my stuff at the hotel while I went- though for a nominal fee it must be added.

Another small criticism would be the standard of breakfast on offer- which i saw but never had. Though in fairness, the standard of the rooms more than made up for this.

To summarise, I found the Boonsiri an excellent and relatively luxurios place for a good price (by western prices)
