“Clean, affordable and central accomodation!”
Reviewed September 20, 2013 via mobile

Clean, affordable accomodation with spacious rooms and good bathrooms! Just off koh sarn so not too noisey. Always stay here when in bangkok. They also have a great pool on the roof! Great place to stay when on bangkok!

I stayed here several times over the course of my backpacking through South East Asia and have to say that the value you get for your money is amazing. It's not expensive by any means, but it's not the cheapest available along Rambuttri Road.

The rooms were basic, but offered a proper bathroom and shower, a tv, and air conditioning. The beds were pretty comfortable, and we never heard (or experienced) anything about Bed Bugs while we were there. There are not 1 but 2 roof top pools (which definitely helped in the sweltering heat of the city in the Jan/Feb/Mar months). The staff were quite nice and friendly. It's about a 3 or 4 minute walk to Koh San Road (if that's your thing) and is around the corner from one of the best places I ate in all of South East Asia (I believe it was called Mr. Lim's vegetarian restaurant--on Rambuttri Road). Also, there is a restaurant/bar down the road that offers free movies 3 times a day.

Sure you can find cheaper accommodations near by, but the dual rooftop pools, and the proximity to pretty much everything is definitely a HUGE plus.

I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!

So sad to finish our travel with this hotel. A disaster ! This is not Thailand !
And certainly a bad way to start a travel in this welcoming country.
In Rambuttri Hotel : front desk staff is not smily, is very distant and rude ….
The rooms have a bad smell of humidity and are noisy because of the icon of the other rooms in front of our windows.
Our friends who came a month before us had the same experience.
SO YES.....despite the swimming pool, I will never go back to this hotel.
And lucky you are, you have plenty of other hotels in this location. Enjoy!

Nice hotel , ideally located for the hustle and bustle of khao San , grand palace etc without all the noise and crowds v cheap averaging about £12.50 a night through one of the booking sites , rooms are v basic at this price but v clean , shower , tv etc . There's a brilliant travel agent just a few doors up from the coffee shop I travelled onward to Cambodia and did the tiger temple tour from here v friendly guy runs it . I felt completely safe security staff 24 hrs and video cameras everywhere ,it's a handy crash point to go onto the islands or Siem reap ! Beware the 1000 baht deposit ( refundable ) on departure , great little bars restaurants all within a stones throw ,I'd go back its not the Astoria but cheap clean and handy ,enough said !!!!!

The only good thing about this hotel is location. It is situated in the heart of Chakkra Phong Road that has a lot of nice restaurants, bars and a great choice of street food wagons in the evening. It is also 3 minutes walking from famous Khao San Road and really close to the main temples of Bangkok.
Rooms were clean, but pictures on booking.com are overphotoshoped, those photos have nothing to do with reality.
And the most outrageous thing is service. The staff is unbelievably rude, inconsiderate and incompetent without a single clue how to treat the guests.
All in all, if you are looking for a hotel in the centre of tourist area just to crush out - that's the place, but don't expect anything outstanding from it.
P.S. The pool on the roof was nice though, good way to relax after tiring sightseeing (note that it is open only until 6 pm).

The place is not bad at all (don't expect the peace which is supposed to be here, due to the thin walls and the noisy customers), but the room is pretty good, I have to admit.
Been there in my first time in Bangkok, the place usually is pretty full if you arrive later than 1 PM.
In my second time in Bangkok went there but the staff was so rude and impolite, so I decided not to stay there again.
You can find something better for the same price or cheaper on the crossing street.
