After reading a few bad reviews on here after booking the hotel of course I was wondering what to expect! They where right about the staff being miserable don't think they smiled once but who cares once you have booked in you shouldn't need to talk to them again until you checkout. We stayed here 4 nights and it was great walking distance to Khao San Road but yet you far enough to get a good nights sleep, beds are comfy room is standard and clean and it even has 2 roof top pools. The shower wasn't the best and didn't seem to get hot but Bangkok it's so hot cold showers are nice. Air con was fine kept us cool while indoors and at night but we don't spend much time in our room to much to see and do. If you don't spend much time in your room and you want a cheap, clean hotel then this is the one for you!!

Room Tip: we like high floors better view but don't think you get much of one where ever your located

Located just off Khao San Road this is a great location, yet it seems to block out the noise so you get a decent nights sleep here. Beds were comfortable and a good shower. Rooftop pool adds a bit of luxury.

We checked out other guesthouses and hotels in the area and found they were a similar price but didn't have the upmarket feel of Rambrutti so staying here seemed a no-brainer!

A safe is provided free of charge in the room.

You have to leave a key deposit of 1000Baht so make sure you have some spare cash.

Stayed here for one night in March. The hotel is located just off Khaosan rd yet its pretty quiet. Our room was okayish and clean. We liked the fact that there is a swimming pool on the roof where you can chill out after the hustle and bustle of Khaosan rd. We we extremely dissapointed with the rude staff at front desk. They absolutely ignore you and make you feel like you were not important to them at all.

For this price/performance ratio, you get an excellent location for all your daytrips in- and outside of Bangkok. Near to the ferry, the sights. About 5km walk to Chinatown, through a nice part of this megacity. Go see Koh Kret, Bang Krachau, after you've visited the well known and lesser known hot-spots. And go have a massage in the 'Garden', a small traditional massage salon in a hidden corner of Soy Ram Buttri... Don't go there for the swimming pools (yes, there are 2 of them), you won't have time for that ;-))

Room Tip: Less noisy: choose building E.

stayed here in may 13, its total value for your baht. for 800 baht its a steal especially i like the atmosphere in the lane outside, the food joints, the candlelit tables, its nice and very relaxing. the river is half a km, khaosan is 300 meters so in the evening if you looking for some fun and beer khaosan is always there.
on the junction towards khaosan food stalls abound and offcourse taxis are available 24x7.
the grandpalace and wat po are walking distance....what more you can ask for.????

the hotel has a swimming pool on top which was empty most of the times i have visited. good place.
the underside to the hotel is that they dont offer breakfast in the hotel.

Room Tip: dont take a room on the ground floor. the rooms above are quieter.

The staff are unfriendly and there is no atmosphere. Rooms are fairly clean but charmless and lacking considering the price. Felt a bit like staying in an old folks home! Can't fault the location. Didn't eat

The location was great and it was such a different hotel than I was used to as a backpacker.

It was formal. I felt like a number. Huge hotel. And I loved it.

Swimming pool was a big plus. All the way up a relaxing place in the heart of Bangkok.

Room was great. Simple single room had tv...a good bed, nice pillow, good shower and A/C. The smell of smoke was a downside...just like the cockroach that was laying upside down on the floor. Not that clean.

Staff wasn't too friendly...more strict and I felt very anonymous. It fits the hotel. Don't go there if you want to connect with staff and have them remember your name or make jokes. It's not a hostel.

And yes...you have to pay 1.000 bath as a deposit. No exceptions. Don't even try. Just think about the last souvenirs you can buy at the airport. Duty free stuff. The airport is great. It is just 1.000 bath.
