Just one minute away from Khao San, still on a bustling street, however most rooms are surprisingly calm. Rooms are decent , but definitely not for being there the whole day.
If it is rotten hot, find the sanctuary in the form of a swimming pool on top of the building.
Avoid talking to the tailors by the entrance at all costs unless you would like to find yourself back home witha wardrobe of so-so quality junk.

I came to bkk , booked this place , then read all the reviews on this site and was disappointing . actually theres nothing wrong at all with this place , perfect location , clean and tidy , swimming pool , 300 bht to have a extra guest stay the night , the hotel staff are fine but they have to put up with all the moaning white men at reception , Im not surprised why there not 100% smiling , I recommend this joint to all . cheers simon

Room was average with one of those bathrooms that gets flooded with every shower. Front desk was always overrun with people and showed no personal interest in guests. However location was great, close to lots of street stalls and food and also the pool was nice for an afternoon cool off.

good hotel for backpackers in a great area!

Please don't expect the photos on their website as they were probably taken years ago! They rooms don't look this inviting, but they are fine!

the hotel isn't a luxury hotel but I would say its luxury for back packers. we stayed in a deulux double room for 850 baht a night, we arrived at about 1 am so I think they just picked this price out of thin air and there was no bartering.

they take 1000 baht deposit from you and if you want to book a taxi from them to the airport they deduct the taxi money from the deposit. if you walk out on to Rambuttri road however you will find you can get a taxi ALOT cheaper.

The pool is very nice and clean, a lot nicer than the one at koh sahn Palace hotel.

The area is GREAT... the hotel is set back from the main road (1 min walk) but enough so its not really loud at night. However expect lots of drunks in the corridors at night and the doors are very thin so you can hear everything! but not from the noise outside! so thats more luck that anything!

The staff were pretty moody, not very helpful, and didn't seem to really care.

I Would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again! :)

Arrived at Rambuttri Village Inn at 5am in the morning and was immediately checked in for that night. Fantastic location, within walking distance of everything you need. Nice roof top swimming pool, excellent value for money.

Real value for money hotel, especially for it's location. Clean and good staff. Right in the middle of all the action and sights anyone would want to see...only a short walk to Bangkok's main river....got on the ferry from top to bottom of the travel route for only 14 baht ticket(30 baht per aust dollar)., Short distance to see the kings palace and so many temples and other attractions all all within a 50 baht tuk tuk ride or walking distance. Full of market stalls selling mostly cheap clothes and nic nacs...but as you would expect, you can't walk a step without someone wanting to sell you something, from a massage, tuk tuk ride, suit DVD etc....so hard to see things as they won't leave you alone. You can get a bit of peice if you get out early, as the place dosen't wake up till after 10 am.

Must have some fish and chips in the shop outsde the hotel plaza with OH MY COD shop....you won't find better worldwide.

As for arranging organissed or supposedly guided tours, might as well forget any sembelance of enjoyment in doing it this way. Had Mr Thai (one of the travel agents just outside the hotel plaza) arrange one for us. Supposedly a guided tour with english speaking guide. We wanted an english speaking guide to explain to us all about the sites we were going to see. As as we are older travellers we requested hotel door to door pick up and bring back. Paid our money and were to go the next day. We were picked up at our hotel in the morning,. taken to an extremely wet dirty, rat infested street, left in a shop doorway, while mini bus after mini bus came and went while all the Thai guides and drivers try to sort who was going to what attration. Finally after an hour they squeesed 14 of us into a Hi Ace sized van, air con barely working...trip from hell, with 14 people + backpacks + cameras + tripods & gear etc. Sardines have more room in their can. After 2 1/2 hrs travel to Bridge on River Kwai, got 20 mins in the war cemetray, 20 mins in the war museum, 20 mins to check out the bridge. Guide nowhere to be seen at any time. Felt like a total waste of time. We were just told " you see now, back in 20 mins or we leave you"...that's our guided tour. Then rushed off for luch on a floating barge and a quick ride down the river on a longboat/raft. Very nice lunch though. Then collected us all up a gain, raced onto elephant ride....20 mins elephant ride where they are touting for tips constantly. Collected up again into another van and off to he the train ride, one hour train ride on what was called the death railway from WW2...watch out for the seats.....they can collapse on you....they did on me...not secured. You have to pay extra for this when you get there.....Collected up again into another van for a 3 hour sweat trip back to Bangkok. There we were deposited in the dark in the middle of a round about with 3 lanaes of traffic all round and not knowing where we were....and told to get a taxi. Hey what is this!!! We paid door to door...."oops sorry no understand".
We don't know Bangkok, had no idea where we were. If you ask for a taxi, you might only have 200 mtrs to go, but they will take miles. Had to grap onto a mini bus door and get aggressive to find out anything, They were just leaving us. As it turns out our hotel was only about 300 mtrs walk, but that's not what we paid for, and as four guided trip....well ....there is none. Arrange with friends and go by yourseslf. We should have got a VIP bus to the town where the River Kwai Bridge & associated places are and stayed at a hotel and viewed it that way.
Most Thai people are genuine and friendly....the others(non Thai)), are totally out there for the $$$...you will see the difference. Normal price for almost anything is 1/3 to 1/2 the asking price.

We stayed here twice-the first time in mid-February,en route to Myanmar, then again in late March,en route home. The hotel is large and the desk is usually very busy with people checking in and out,so there is little casual conversation.
The rooms were basic and clean-small T.V.,safe,firm bed for 880 baht/night.The rooftop pool is lovely-inviting blue water, comfortable lounge chairs and a nice view of the surrounding region.
The area is great-situated on a leafy tree lined soi, close to lots of restaurants, bars, shops, money exchanges,ATM's,internet cafes, and Kao San Road.
