We always stay in a room with an ensuite but made an exception this time...all we were looking for was a place close to the Myanmar Embassy so we could easily walk there early morning to apply for our visas..

The staff are top-notch and will really look after you..they get 5 stars..but like someone already stated here, the place is clean enough only it certainly does look old and tired..they do check the toilets and showers regularly making sure they're kept clean...room size (Twin Room) has good space...however, the BEDS are what makes me doubt if I'll ever come back again..not sure what they're like in the other rooms but the mattresses in our room should have been thrown out a decade ago..it's not even a bed anymore..it is literally a BOX OF METAL SPRINGS covered in a paper thin pad which is useless since they will still dig in your back..you don't even have to lie down to feel them..all you need to do is touch the bed and you can make out the spirals..

I probably won't consider staying here unless they get new mattresses..

+ Location excellent, right near BTS and a few stops away from Siam shopping centres. Staff so friendly and helpful - make the place. Very clean. Close to Patong night market, entertainment and street food.

- The dorm room is basic and the beds squeek a little. Can hear noice from surrounding area, but not so loud as to affect my sleep. Dorm room on 6th floor.

If your looking for basic, central and cheap accommodation with friendly service I would recommend this hostel.

The Urban Age was a great place to stay! The staff were ridiculously friendly and the other people staying there were lovely as well. The internet facilities were great, wireless or there was a computer there. Surrounding the hostel were many massage and beauty shops, and they were such a treat to go to. I'm a hopeless traveler, and it took me about half and hour of getting lost to find the hostel (which is not actually that difficult to find, although it is tucked into a back alley - the safe kind). When I first arrived I thought that there was some kind of motorbike gang that had their base there, but it turned out to be a courier service. Now this might sound daunting but it was actually a good thing because one you stay there for a few days they kinda know you by face and you feel safer because there's always someone there on the street. The staff had to put up with me coming in and out 6 million times and that was the only bad thing for me - the dorm is on the 6th floor and I kept forgetting stuff and having to go back! One of the massage places just around the corner (can't remember the name but they had green and cream writing out the front) became a second home for myself and another guest at TUA. I had a facial there one afternoon, just before I went to Koh Tao and Koh Phangan for a week. I took my (expensive) necklace off and forgot it, after a week I came back to the massage place and they had kept my necklace for me! The food around the Hostel is great as well, because you're in the 'business' district, and not the touristy places.

- Great location
- Great staff
- Great experience

I absolutely recommend this place if you're staying for a few days in Bangkok. Sure, go visit Khe Sahn one day, but if you want the real Bangkok, stay here!

Room Tip: The dorm is on the 6th floor!!

i happened to chance upon this hotel in the LP guide book and made a telephone booking for the 6 bedroom mixed dorm as i needed to crash there only for a night , the room was big enough and had free wifi and air con , the staff was extremely courteous and very very warm . the only disadvantage is the lack of an elevator but you can't really argue about that for this price , the hotel is located on a sub soi close to silom soi 8 and is a quick walk from all that silom has to offer . if u are into the backpacker scene , theres no place like this for the price , met some incredible people here . i couldnt ask for more , cheers

Good value large rooms - nice decor and spacious. The hostel is tucked away in a small soi so you are near the busy Silom Road but far enough away to avoid too much noise. The place is safe and friendly - the staff at desk are very helpful and knowledgeable. Free tea and coffee and wi fi. Shared bathrooms only but these are clean and fine.

Spent three nights at Urban Age. Great location in the centre of Bangkok with Sala Daeng and Silom stations within five minutes walk this is a perfect base from which to explore the city and excellent value for money.

Staff were friendly, welcoming and informative, with good communications in advance of arrival as well as during my stay. I had the feeling that guests are really cared for.

I had a private "Urban Room" on the fourth floor and although facilities were on the landings there were sufficent that this posed no problems with availability. The room was simply furnished but equipped with a combination safe and airconditioning. I enjoyed a good, comfortable nights sleep.

Would definitely recommend and will certainly return on future trips to Bangkok. Many thanks.
