“Shanghai Mansion - Gorgeous”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

I booked the Mu Dan room and it was gorgeous, very spacious with exotic decor, a couch and flat screen TV area, A luxurious Tub room, huge 2 person shower, separate toilet room, and a giant comfortable bed. Really wonderful exotic haven in the middle of China Town. Service could not have been better. Porn, Patcha, and Yuri in reception just made my stay easy and very enjoyable. Breakfast buffet offerred a large choice of buffet stThanks to them and all the staff at Shanghai Mansion. I will be back. Frank Burnaby

Room Tip: The Mu Dan room #204 was gorgeous and quiet.

We stayed here for 3 nights after a friends recommendation. The rooms were beautiful, the staff were really friendly and the breakfast superb! The cotton club has live jazz and a cocktail bar which is worth a visit. The hotel is currently going through some renovations but you hardly noticed. We arrived early and managed to check in earlier than the stated 2pm which was perfect! I would recommend this hotel if you wish to stay in Chinatown

We stayed here form Wednesday 9th July for 4 nights. The hotel is nice. We ate in restaurant twice, the 1st time was great, the second not so good. The staff are not too bad, but do not use the tour guide in lobby of hotel. You will get cheaper ,better ,quality and more informed tours elsewhere. We found location to be ok. Find the underground which is a 5 minute walk from hotel. Here's my tip how to find things... Ask young teenagers, they can speak English and are not interested in making money from you. As a western tourist in Bangkok you'll be amazed at how many people who know a (friend) who is a taxi driver or tour operator or in 1 case an Indian chef!! When shopping in Bangkok you will come across people who will tell you with a smile that they know a good shopping centre, in 1 case I had a man show me an I.d card saying he was tourist police an he could take us to a friends shopping centre. All absolute lies an scams. The grand palace is a must along with wat pho.. Both beautiful and worth the effort. Beware the scammers outside who say they are closed!! They are always open! They (again) want to take you to a friends shopping centre, same as tuk tuk drivers. We went to the floating market. My own opinion is this...STAY AWAY!! All items are toutist tat at inflated prices an your boat will be a fortune.i hope this review helps 1st time visitors,

We stayed the night in Bangkok for one night in the way to Koh Samui. The staff were really friendly and most of them were able to speak English. We stayed in the cheapest room and it was nice, not perfect but for the price it was really good. The location is close to the main train station and you are in the middle of china town! Despite that it was really quiet in our room compared to all the use outside. We ordered room service and the pad Thai was yummy! We felt safe and the rooms were clean, for a short visit it was great.

Wonderful hotel. Very much enjoyed my stay here. Rooms and hotel are stunning and well decorated. Only downside was that my room - the most basic/cheapest one had no windows which made me feel a bit claustrophobic. But room was beautiful so cant complain.
Location couldn't be better - right it the middle of chinatown, with all the street food, markets and chaos right outside the hotel.
Best thing about the hotel was the service - free tuttut ride to the MBK and other attractions. Mini bar contents are free!! Wonderful service - eager to meet any requests and very welcoming.
Would highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: a very good choice of hotel

Staying in this bangkok hotel was a good choice for me. Check in was a breeze. They offered tea and cold towel upon arrival. S was especially helpful and attentive. The hotel has a beautiful chinese decor both in the room and the hallways. Rooms are tidied everyday and towels changed. There is complimentary soda, chips and cookies too. A great treat! Hot and cold shower, toiletries all provided. Wifi in the room was not very fast but good enough. The bed was huge and comfy and I had a good sleep for 4 nights! A real treat after a not so comfy stay in kathmandu. There was even a safe to keep valuables. I enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the Cotton Resto in the third floor. Outside of the hotel are street foods on both sides at night. Youll never go hungry. No complimentary airport transfer. Taxi fare to airport is 500 baht. Tuktuk service to grand palace and MBK shopping is for free but must be booked the day prior. I think the Day Tours Desk in the hotel lobby charge overprice. All in all I would recommend staying in this hotel.
