Stayed at the Malaysia Hotel for 7 nights. Rooms are basic but very clean and well maintained - excellent value for money. Reception staff were awesome - very friendly, always smiling and helpful. The coffeshop/restaurant serves authentic Thai food at very cheap prices - and it's not toned-down for Western palates! Pool was small and a bit shabby but when you're paying 800 baht per night, what do you expect?! Have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel - if you're looking for basic, clean, cheap accommodation in an OK location a few mins ride from Silom then this is the place for you. Although it's marketed as a 'gay' hotel in some guides, it's also very 'straight' friendly - although the coffeeshop was quite cruisy late at night (if that's your kinda thing!).

This way my first trip to Thailand & I was recommened this hotel by a friend. I was not disappointed. The rooms were large with one double bed & one single. The rooms were basic but that's all I wanted.
The staff were very friendly & didn't mind if I bought someone back to my room. I liked it when you put your key which was on the top of a wooden bottle into a small box & it switched on your lights & air con.
The resturant next door served beautiful meals with beautiful NZ butter. A taste of home. The swimming pool was a welcome relief from the hot air. The location is well situated in central bangkok. Just a 5 minute walk to lumpini underground. The view from the 5th level is good with views looking out across the city.
Next time I go back I will be saying here.

It 's not a hotel at all, but terrible guest-house! Rooms are dirty, furniture is too old, bathroom is terrible! Never recommend this "hotel"

Hotel is not a new one but location is good : 5 to 10 minutes to undergroud, near by Lumpinee Park and Silom
Rooms are large with attached bathroom with old TV - large windows + AC
Ask to have a room entrance side : other side : no view !
Nice people at front desk - you can leave your luggage - you have safe box at the front desk.
Massage in the lobby : 2 hours oil massage for 350 Bath : very good.
Restaurant in the Lobby : open 24 hours ! good - reasonnable prices.
Swimming pool : clean - no so many chairs and a little bit old but so good in BKK
Internet : in the bar : some computers... in the room hot spot : good connection for free
A very good price : about 20€ without breakfast for good hotel.

I have stayed in Malaysia Hotel since 2000 for at least 10 times and mentioning Bangkok brings both memories of Malaysia Hotel and everything good about Bangkok to mind for me.

Since this is a review about Malaysia Hotel, can I just say that if you are looking for a basic accomodation at a well situated locality. This hotel suites you well, it is not new and if you are to read my previous reviews in Bangkok. First for me is cleanliness then comes customer service. Malaysia hotel has this both conditions down phat! Which means good of course :)

I'm partial to this hotel for a good reason. Why have I continued staying here time after time is that the staff are experienced and smiles the geniune Thailand smile that is so endearing.

Truth be said, you are getting for what you are paying and this is a budget stay. But, this place is well worth the buck. It is relatively quiet and you get a 7/11 store just across the hotel, next to it is the currency exchange booth. The hotel is almost within walking distance to Suan Lam Night Bazaar. Going to Silom or Patpong is just a 5mins taxi ride away.

The restaurant serves an amazing array of food. Nice, tasty? Hmmm....well, it satiates my hunger but me, I'm not choosy...my friends seem to be though. I wish I had taken the photographs. But, looking at the photos taken from the other reviewers they are accurate and brings a sense of warmth.

Staff, staff, staff I say! They make Malaysia Hotel proud!
