This is a charming little hotel with lovely owner and staff. You are treated as honoured guests and the little touches like a cold towel and ice lemon tea when you get back after sightseeing, make a huge difference.

Breakfast is substantial and very good and I counted 12 different fruits until the tamarind arrived.

Our room was very good and we slept well and could only just hear the loudspeaker from the protest camp which thankfully finished at about 22.00, but not every day. The location is near the end pier of the Klong (canal) taxi which should be taken just for the experience. It links with National Stadium/Siam Square Skytrain and the Jim Thompson House for 10 baht per person. Khao San road is about 10 minutes walk away.

Although there is no restaurant there are plenty of choices within a 5 minute walk or a tuk tuk for places further away.

If you need help with trips then Nantiya will be only to pleased to help and make suggestions. We went on the River Kwai trip which is an all day affair and she ordered a reliable taxi to take us to the airport. Definitely allow an hour to get to the airport.

The WIFI upstairs did not work after day 1 and perhaps needs a booster.

We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Bangkok.

Room Tip: We were in a standard room which was very good.

The Old Bangkok Inn is a lovely small inn right near the heart of main Bangkok. The rooms are nicely appointed and clean. We found the staff really, really nice. Great breakfast. Make no mistake, however, this is more like an Inn than a hotel. Very homey, almost B&B feel. Also, it is very close to the main tourist destinations in Bangkok, which is a big deal considering how hard it is to get around in the city.

Nice little place near Victory Monument. A sweetheart of an owner. Helps with everything. Great breakfast included. If you like funky B&B style as we do then this place is great. Easy tuk tuk to all the sights in old Bangkok. No place really nearby for dinner so after a day of touring around eat near river before you come back.

Old Bangkok Inn is a charming little place with lovely Asian decor and extremely helpful proprietors. Breakfast is plentiful and offers a lot of variety. We liked it a lot. My main caveat is to avoid the Lotus rooms. We stayed in one, and it's just too quirky and awkward. They are built as a loft, with the bed upstairs, reachable by very steep steps (as the web site warns). I am fairly short, and every time I went up and down the steps it seemed precarious. It would be worse for someone tall, or heavy or with mobility issues. This is not a trip you want to make at 3 a.m. in the dark without your glasses to reach the bathroom downstairs. Also, in the loft there is a large wooden beam that anyone over about 5'5" will knock into (we know this by experience). Otherwise, we loved Old Bangkok Inn. The owner spoke great English and was wonderful. (She called the airline repeatedly, for example, when our luggage didn't arrive.) One of the young clerks helped me way beyond her obligations when I was trying to get my cellphone to work. Breakfast was great, with tons of fruit (if you choose it) of wide variety, plus eggs and toast and a slightly odd hotdog-type sausage or ham (your choice). If you want to switch up from day to day (rice porridge instead of eggs, or coffee instead of tea), you have to say so. There were also little breakfast surprises, like delicious little coconut tarts one time. The location was good, close to major sights in the old part of the city but, alas, not accessible by Skytrain. It's close enough to walk to Golden Mount and probably the Palace, though we found that a little bit of a hot and traffic-clogged trip. A tuk-tuk would be better. Other minor caveats: our mattress was seriously firm, really hard; the lighting was too dim for easy reading; the electricity is rigged to the key card, so it (including the little fridge, apparently) is turned off when you leave. We would recommend this inn highly but suggest avoiding the Lotus rooms.

Room Tip: Avoid the Lotus rooms, whose lofts are problematic.

We had a great time in this peaceful hotel. Perfectly located, close to the canal boat which takes you to the main sights. Rooms small, but excellent with free PC, TV and DVD's. Excellent breakfast served by the friendly owners. Very helpful receptionist who helped us to find the best spots in town and restaurants close by.

Room Tip: Go for a backwards located room.
