What a charming and delightful place! Wonderful breakfast, lovely owners, great atmosphere, walk to old area of town. Such a haven in crazy Bangkok, restaurants on the street. Room was quaint and comfortable, with lots of decorative touches. We had a loft bedroom, which was really cool.

We had read reviews about this and decided we wanted to do boutique. Loved it. Very exotic fruit for breakfast, even showed a chart of the fruit so we would know what we ate. As we were exhausted from flights we had no difficulty falling asleep. Owners seemed nice. Very good location as you can walk just about anywhere to get a very good affordable meal. Our room met our needs. They were quite helpful in getting us whatever means of transportation we needed.

I couldn't decide what was best about this place: the people, the location or the rooms. So firstly, the people who run this place are absolutely delightful and there is no such thing as inconvenience. A breakfast better than a 5 star hotel buffet. Everything that was asked for was attended to with haste and a smile. The location takes you away from the modern high rise part of Bangkok and into the old town. The canal boat takes you into the thick of things within minutes and its a fun ride. Just a block or two down the road is a music hot spot. Not Disco or Club stuff. But local bands in small venues. Then there are the rooms themselves. We went for the basic option: the Lemongrass room. Old world charm, comfortable firm bed, great small outdoor area where we sat each evening watching and listening to the monsoon (i.e. enough under cover area). Computer with internet in every room. Being in Bangkok for business meant that I could have afforded to stay anywhere. But the choice (at less than half the price of a 5 star tower) was perfect and not regretted slightly. If I return, I will not stay anywhere else. It's as simple as that! One last thing, it is good to book with them direct. I found it better than going via Agoda or Expedia.

Room Tip: Quiet throughout. Allow number of people and the space needed to determine which room. Their website shows the spaces clearly.

I have to start this review with the breakfasts, because the Old Bangkok Inn serves up the most incredible meal to start your day! I still have dreams about the tiny, filled coconut pancakes. Fruit, eggs, bread, tea - all fresh and fantastic. The service at the very charming Old Bangkok is impeccable; every person we dealt with was so warm and hospitable, we felt as though we were staying with family. Our family of four stayed in the comfortable Lotus Room and loved the outdoor shower. The location is terrific, close to the canal boat landing, temples, and delicious food (like Thip Samai!) on Maha Chai Road. Such a peaceful oasis in Bangkok.
