This is our 2nd time staying at this hotel. (We travel to bangkok once every 3 months)
Rooms: Felt like we're back in the 90s, clean, sheets were cloud-like, toilet was spotless. My fav part of e room is the balcony, i love to wake up and draw the curtains back. Full length window means ample sunshine! Time passes really slowly there!
Excellent Service: Those gorgeous thai ladies at the reception are very patient, they speak good english and they are more than willing to help you with Thai Road Names in getting around.
Bad Service: #1 One blacksheep of the family. There was this particular "door-man" or "bell-boy", he's probably in his early 40s. He's lazy when e other door-man would rush to the door when they see us coming up the stairs and greet us whereas he just stay put in his warm seat and "Mock" at us. Being asians from a country where our first language is English, he started speaking funnily to us in Chinese when we were only speaking to him in English throughout the trip there but he only replies us in Chinese. Everytime he speaks a sentence he would turn around and laughed out loudly to his colleagues. We just kept quiet even though we were clearly annoyed.
#2. Everytime he "did" something for us, which is barely like i mentioned he likes keeping his seat warm, he would say "Tip-tip" meekly, hoping his colleague won't hear him. We tipped generously to the rest of the door-man there, especially those who have been so nice towards us during our 4 days there. They helped us get taxis, they pass on e information/address to those drivers on where to bring us to. No way will i be tipping someone who is lazy and some sort of racist.
Free tuk-tuk to KhaoSan: This is the 2nd downside of e trip. We stayed once in July and returned again in September and everytime we asked about the free ride up to Khao San there were new excuses. Excuses like "Oh tuk tuk were for repair", "Tuk Tuk had to travel to somewhere *points at map and won't be back 2hours later" and their latest excuse was "TukTuk spoil". What we realised was being just the 2 of us, they wouldn't want to waste their petrol. Infact there was this guest who was alone asked for e free service, he was told the same excuse given on my July trip there and they proceeded to ask him to walk out to e road to flag at taxi instead.
Other than that we still LOVE the hotel, love the simple yet delicious free breakfast, love the comfort of the hotel room and the very friendly staff of De'Moc.
