Yeah okay, it's pretty pricy by Thailand standards BUT who doesn't love lounging in a nice cool rooftop pool and gazing out at the Royal Palace? It's worth treating yourself to this experience while sweating it out in the big Mango. Definitely takes the edge off.
The reception staff gave us the option of a room with a window overlooking Koh San or a room without a window. We chose the first option and it was really loud. We knew it was going to be loud and they warned us about it in case we didn't know. I don't know what the noise levels in the other rooms are like but if you're staying on Koh San you're probably out having a blast until 2am when the police shut everything down and it gets quiet. No problem, right?
Our room was clean, the shower and air con worked and they provided a helpful list of what you had to pay if you broke anything in the room. Very helpful :)
All in all, I recommend it for the central location and the pool. If you're not intending to take advantage of Koh San in all it's weirdo glory, do yourself a favour and stay in a more peaceful neighbourhood. If you know what you're getting into, it's a super fun place!
